Is the world ready for Andrew J. Robinson as James Bond?

They've been having a field day with these Bond threads over at the General TV & Media board. In fact, it got so out of control that the mods had to start locking them down after a while!

However, asking seriously, how would you image the great Andrew J. Robinson taking on a much different type of spy role, having already brilliantly played the character of Elim Garak on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine? :D

Erm....no.

Alexander Siddig would be a better Bond that Andrew Robinson. But IMO, neither is ideal for that role.

He'd have to be as good as Lazenby (who ended up doing porn in the 1990s), so yeah, I can see Robinson in the role. As for whether or not the world is ready... meh, sure, why not?

I have to agree with PKTrekGirl. Siddig would be a much better bond. Andrew was good playing a very devious character as Garak. But bond is a proud kick ass guy. Garak is jsut intelligent.

And it was all my fault, since I started the whole fucking thing in the first place (silly me, I thought starting one thread about a black Bond wasn't committing a cardinal sin   .)

Is the world ready for a Cardinal Bond? One who either plays baseball in St. Louis, Football in Arizona, or votes for the next Pope?

Absolutely Andy Robinson would be an amazing Bond. Best Bond ever without any doubt in my mind.

Andy Robinson is one of those actors who is so immaculate he could take absolutely any role and turn it into a masterpiece performance.

I disagree that Sid would be a better Bond. In my view those two are not even in the same stratosphere in terms of acting ability. Not that Sid is a bad actor (although he perhaps was it seems in Season 1 of DS9).

Then again, that may be the one reason why Andy Robinsion would not be suitable for Bond: he's simply way too advanced of an actor for a simplistic role such as Bond. In other words, Andy Robinson is way too good at acting to play Bond was we know Bond. So if going from that perspective, then I can see how Sid would be better for Bond.

I don't necessarily want to see him as Bond, but some other spy-type character, maybe...even better, get away from the whole spy paradigm. There are a ton of roles in movies and TV I'd like to see him in.

So if Robinson became Bond, does that mean that Meaney would be a henchman, Brooks the villain, Ferrel a Bond Girl  , and Visitor as the Bad Bond girl?

No but I am ready for Andrew Robinson to play Mr. Wilson in the next Dennis the Menace moving. Dennis needs to be taken down a whole peg and Andy is the man to do it.
