Is the title official?

Star Treks

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I'm sorry because I'm sure this has been discussed before, but some time has passed and I'm still having trouble figuring it out.

The release date looms ever nearer, and I'm still uncertain whether this movie is just going to be called "Star Trek" or if it will actually have some longer title. Does anyone know the answer to this for sure?

I don't think the teaser trailer saying "Star Trek" must necessarily mean that that's the name of the movie.

For example, a teaser for a new Indiana Jones movie might say "Indiana Jones" with a few little suggestive images but that doesn't necessarily mean that's going to be the full title for the new movie. Same with any franchise thing like Bond. I didn't get the vibe from the teaser that "Star Trek" absolutely must be the full real name of the movie, but I could be totally wrong.

First things first: From the sound of it, fans can rest assured that subtitles about undiscovered countries and insurrections are a thing of the past. Kurtzman and Orci told MTV that their film is titled, quite simply, "Star Trek." "That's the intended title. I don't think we want to put any colons or anything on it," Orci said.

Well, that's cool with me. No "Star Trex XI: The Clarinet of Spock" necessary. Sounds about as close to official as it can get, I guess.

I will so totally boycott this move if it features Spock's clarinet. I'll also boycott it if they don't acknowledge that his clarinet exists.

IMO, Star Trek should be enough. For me, having no colons or Roman numerals after it will make it seem all the more like an actual, epic film to me than just another installment in a franchise.

I know the idea is that this film will still fit with established canon, but it's still it's own, stand-alone story as well.

It should be titled "The Delightfulness of Star Trek" and have a certain "60s" flavor to it.

There will be many pastels and rebellious hairstyles.

Protests will be depicted and people with signs will be against all sorts of things, including movies that lack Roman numerals in their titles....or colons (biological and written).

Instead of guitars, Vulcan harps shall be played, and people will demand Starfleet make known the galactic coordinates of the planet Eden.

Tracy Ullman will guest star.

This film will simply be titled Star Trek. If it proves successful, the next will be Star Treks. Followed by Star Trek3, at which point the quality will begin to wane and fans will wonder if the franchise has run its course. Last will come Star Trek Resurrection, after which the series will be dead and buried. Mark my words.

Wrong! After Star Trek Resurrection there will be at least two more semi-sequels called Star Trek VS. Star Wars and Star Trek VS. Star Wars 2

They should try to top "For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky." I certainly won't be watching any Star Trek movie that doesn't have a subtitle.

I'm hoping for "2 Star 2 Trek", featuring only half the cast, personally. Followed by "Star Trek: Spacial Rift", focusing on a new crew with only a brief cameo by Kirk at the end.

Or perhaps they'll do that clever thing where they replace letters with numbers... y'know... CLEVERLY. Like "STA2 T2EK".

And the fourth will be called Star Trek 4: Rise of the Gold Pressed Platinum Surfer
