Is the STAR TREK magazine ending?

I recently sent in a renewal and received my check back in the mail yesterday, saying that Express Mag is no longer publishing it. (Odd that they sent me the bill to which I responded, however.)

They listed someone else who has the rights now (I don't have the letter with me and I don't recall who, at the moment).

Does anyone know if the publication will continue, or is it dead?

I'm working on an article for an upcoming issue of the Magazine right now. The publisher is Titan Magazines. Express Mag is apparently a subscription agency rather than a publisher. I suppose the magazine is simply being distributed by a different subscription agency these days.

Who is Express Mag? Star Trek Magazine is, and has always been, published by Titan Magazines.

Several of the authors - including KRAD and Dayton Ward - are actively working on articles for issues due for release five or six months from now; so, no, it isn't dead, and so far as we know, it is continuing as we speak.

And I've got a piece to do which I'm told will be in sometime in 2012, so I think it's pretty safe...

I don't really know who they are, apparently.

This is them: http://www.expressmag.com/en-US/magazines/topics_thumbnail/cinema-television/22/page-1/0/0/8/

When the last incarnation of a Trek magazine died, I received some kind of notice that this one was picking up where it left off, with a subscription form for Express Mag. And I've been receiving it from them ever since. :/

I never paid attention to who published it. I guess I'll go subscribe directly from Titan now. Thanks. :)

I guess so. I thought the notice of them being the new source for the magazine was somehow official. Apparently it was more like one of those, "We bought your name on a list of Star Trek magazine subscribers and we're pretending to be the official source of the new magazine."

The good news is, I just checked the Titan site, and Express mag was charging the same price. So at least I wasn't being ripped off on top of being duped.

I've always dealt with Express Mag while I've been subscribing to The Magazine, and I even did my last renewal through them a couple months ago.

^Yeah, probably a side-effect of their recent announcement that the subscription would be available wordwide.

I have the letter in hand now, and it does indeed say that the magazine "has ceased to be distributed through Express Mag", nothing about publishing. My bad.

They also provide the contact information for the distributor who will now be handling the title, a company in Anaheim called National Subscription Fulfillment Services.

I'm just going to subscribe through Titan.

I don't think it will matter. I too got my check back. Same letter as well. I called the number to the new place and they had my subscription information transfered to them from Express Mag.

Before I renewed through them, I called Titan; and while they are the publisher, when asked; they said they distribute via National Subscription Fulfillment Services. Again, when asked about who to subscribe through, they said it didn't matter.

Thanks for the information I hope people will have better luck getting their refund checks back.

Yeah, I lucked out having it happen right on my renewal date. Hopefully those in the middle of a subscription will find that it just automatically transfers over to NSFS.

My last renewal with Express mag (about a year ago) was by check through the mail. They cashed the check and then started calling me to tell me my subscription was lapsing. Every time I tried to call them back, I got an answering machine. I finally wrote them and sent them a copy of the cancelled check, asking them to renew the subscription and stop calling me about it. They stopped calling me, but I didn't get another magazine. Luckily, I can find them around here. If that is the way Express mags runs their business, I am not surprised to hear that they are not longer doing it. They were incompetent and unreliable, from my experience with them.

I had problems with Express mag not sending me the StarTrek magazines in the mail. I had to call them several times last year before they finally sent the StarTrek magazines to me I told them I wasn't pleased about not getting magazines I paid for they're service is lousy.

I know Star Trek magazine is not going under. I just saw a notice that it was now going to be available internationally. There are things I wish were different about the magazine but it is what it is and it's all we got.

The only thing I wish regarding the Magazine would be that they would return to using proper English spellings, i.e. Colour not color, as was the case before the magazine was published in America.

In Britain we accept American magazines using American English is it too much to accept that a Magazine still edited in Britain use British English?

Rant Over.

Pretty much. It's an accepted truism in publishing that it's a lot easier to get Brits to accept Americanisms than the other way around.

Think about this. You save ink and space by using the shorter spelling. In a magazine, printed thousands of times, that adds up.
