I should have said relative failure compared to the PS and PS2, there's no way anyone can look at the PS3 and call it a success considering the brand went from dominating the previous two generations to "also ran".

PS4 became a marginal success in the end but Sony loss a huge chuck of its market share. The real problem with Sony is the lack of 3rd party sales compared to the XBox 360 and XBL takes in more revenue than PSN. Sony biggest reward with the PS3 has been Blu Ray, which kicks ass at the end of the day.

To be fair, PSN is free compared to XBL's $60/yr fee. I don't understand why people flock to XBL when there is a free alternative. This is primarily why I prefer PS3 over 360.

The Wii has been the biggest seller, the others are starting to catch up but I think the major problem was their arrogance. They released a console that was expensive in boom time, when people felt like they had plenty of money and it was still too expensive for most then recession came and they boasted about being recession proof and didn't lower the price much if at all.

The PS3 isn't a failure. It's better selling than the Xbox outside of the US.

Not in the UK it's not, the article says it looks likely that in the UK the 360 will bow out as the best selling console out of the 360, Wii and PS4.

Well that's true, but I know people with multiple xboxes, One in the living room, ones for the kids, one in the bedroom/games room, etc. I'm sure there are people out there doing the same with PS3s.

There are 2 Xboxes, 2 PS3s and 2 Vitas in my home. Big family. My kids tend to fight over the PS3 more.
