Can you imagine how comfortable a kilt would be? If I could get away with it, I'd wear one every day.

I find skirts to be inconvenient and uncomfortable. They're always getting in the way, and they're way more trouble than they're worth. Tons of guys I know say that they think kilts would be comfortable, though. I wonder if it's a manifestation of the grass being greener on the other side.

^^^ I find skirts ridiculously comfortable and love wearing them (for the most part), but it's a pain to be conscious of being proper all the time.

I think that dresses and skirts are more comfortable than trousers. However because I have bad ankles I have to wear boots to get the support I need and don't think most dresses and skirts look good with the boots I have to wear.

Let's just admit that kilts are sort of like the chopsticks of the fashion world. We've seen the knife and fork, we know it's better, but we just don't want to admit how wrong we once were.

See, I totally disagree.

This is one area where the Double Standard works against men instead of for them.

A woman can wear a 3 piece suit and be "fashionable". A man wears a skirt and he's a transvestite.

Yeah but in pants you can go free-ballin any time you want.

With a kilt? Not so much.:alienblush:

Yes, you can.

In fact, in many military regiments, soldiers are not permitted to wear underwear with their kilts.

And John Barrowman says he doesn't wear undies with his kilt.

Is that him off to get married?

My first thought on this was: no. Then my mind's eye drifted to the usual suspects and I think they'd look even hotter in kilts. So, I voted yes. Then I started thinking of all those fat British men with their appalling beer bellies and I thought no. Still, kilts are very often hot (and a little naff on non-Scots, I feel).

My opinion is that those fat British men with their beer bellies look even worse with their bellies hanging over their trousers then they would in kilts,

Also such men often wear their trousers at half-mast which is absolutely gross.

Yes, this is him about to be married. His husband Scott didn't wear a kilt.

Though he was born in Scotland, John Barrowman grew up in the USA. He invited a girl to the prom but she refused to go with him when he turned up in a kilt.

See I think they look comfy and whatnot but non-scots wearing a traditional kilt looks a bit pretentious, maybe I’d wear one of those utilikilts mentioned above

What about a kilt like Gerard Butler is wearing in this photo

Well, since women look good in skirts, I suppose the reverse is also true, so I'll say "yes."

I like the Greek kilts but I can't say the shows do anything for me.

I find my kilt very comfortable to wear. I suppose women's skirts can be uncomfortable when they are tight, but kilts allow for great legs' movements. Unfortunately, being in Italy, I don't have many opportunities to wear it.

As an addendum, I do agree that traditional kilts look a bit daft on non-Scots, but on the other hand I love them and I think they look good, so I gladly allow for being a bit daft sometimes. ;)

I would not be burdened with such concerns...

That's not a kilt, that's a skirt.

As a Scot I can say with experience that the OP statement is most definitely not true. There are plenty of men who should never show their legs.

Technically, a kilt should look like this:

There was an equal amount of cloth carried over the shoulder (usually pinned there), for use during bad weather and for sleeping rough, where it was used to wrap up in like a blanket.
