Important poll. The statement is

MOST men's appearance improves if they put on a KILT.

This question comes about because my best friend tried to tell me that they only guy that looks good in a kilt is Adrian Paul (Duncan MacLeod). I think my friend is either totally bonkers or blind for making this statement.

So I am turning the question over to the members here to see what you all think.

I did mean to make this poll piblic but I forgot to :(

I'm not Scottish, so I have no opinion on kilts.

I did hear that Davy Crockett, when a toddler, wore one and then wandered into a drinking establishment. The scene was described as "Kilt in a bar when he was only three." :guffaw: :guffaw: ;)

My non-Scottish, stereotype-based understanding of the kilt (derived mostly from Looney Tune cartoons and Monty Python skits) is that they are all plaid.

I hate plaid. So my answer is no.

"Now, the kilt was only for day-to-day wear. In battle, we donned a full-length ball gown covered in sequins. The idea was to blind your opponent with luxury."

Yeah cuz if an army of soldiers came over the hillside dressed in kilts that would really strike terror into the populace's haearts.:guffaw:

Let's just admit that kilts are sort of like the chopsticks of the fashion world. We've seen the knife and fork, we know it's better, but we just don't want to admit how wrong we once were.

Every time I post in this thread I will post a photo of a man in a kilt. Forst of all David Tennant

See, I totally disagree.

This is one area where the Double Standard works against men instead of for them.

A woman can wear a 3 piece suit and be "fashionable". A man wears a skirt and he's a transvestite.

Can you imagine how comfortable a kilt would be? If I could get away with it, I'd wear one every day.

This.

It doesn't matter that they call it something else. UGLY.

Though tartan is sometime used, most Irish kilts are of a solid colour (most commonly green, saffron or black).

For example, below is an Irish military kilt.

Doesn't look comfortable to me.

Are you kidding? They're incredibly comfortable. I wore one in my high school band for two years and have rented one twice for weddings. I eventually intend to buy one. (Not a Utilikilt, though... I think they're ugly. Besides, if you need pockets, that's what the sporran is for.)

I found a website that insists that it is sinful for men to wear kilts. I actually had to check out the rest of this guy's website as I didn't know if he was for real.

Ewan McGreogor looks comfortable but a little sinful in his kilt.
