Because we value peace.Yes from the Klingons' agenda it was a win/win they would get Sarek or in this case a Star Fleet Admiral. How come our lot (Starfleet/Vulcans) didn't figure this out?

Being stupid and 'knowingly' giving the enemy a Starfleet Admiral or someone like Sarek is not furthering peace.Because we value peace.
So, learning from Captain KirkAnnounce "We Come In Peace"
Then "Shoot to Kill".
Depends on the culture.Being stupid and 'knowingly' giving the enemy a Starfleet Admiral or someone like Sarek is not furthering peace.
That wasn't the plan. The plan was to open negotiations with the Klingons. They took a chance.Being stupid and 'knowingly' giving the enemy a Starfleet Admiral or someone like Sarek is not furthering peace.
Nice.. photo!Lorca can do whatever the hell he wants.
Because he's Lorca.

"Is he captain enough?????" PLEASE....!
Death wish culture? So, learning from Captain Kirk
Depends on the culture.
Well, this is pure speculation of course, but I think the way the captain goes about saving, or attempting to save, Cornwell might be the thing that allows him to keep his command, whether he succeeds in saving or not.Save Kat and lose his command, or let Kat die and carry on as if nothing happened.
A culture that values diplomacy.Death wish culture?
And sacrifice.A culture that values diplomacy.
The Vulcans DID. there are many Vulcans who would like to see Sarek gone, and Vulcan membership in the Federation dissolved. Sarek at this time is still somewhat of an idealist - a view he looses after the situations with Burnhan's situation, Spock deciding to join Starfleet, etc.Yes from the Klingons' agenda it was a win/win they would get Sarek or in this case a Star Fleet Admiral. How come our lot (Starfleet/Vulcans) didn't figure this out?
I'm sure with enough blind guesses, at least one of us will be right!I mean I can see a scenario where Lorca shows Cornwell through his rescue attempt, that though he is impaired, it is still better for Starfleet and the Federation that he stay in command of the Discovery. Perhaps Lorca, while obeying orders, comes close to rescuing her, but suceeds or nearly suceeds only when he improvises.
Have you seen Starfleet Security? O_oI guess but the Admiral was woefully protected.
