Is Lorca Captain enough to save the Admiral?

Lorca can do whatever the hell he wants.

Because he's Lorca.

"Is he captain enough?????" PLEASE....!

The war has been going on for seven months or so after the Federation basically doesn't hear much from the Klingons for a hundred years. They really don't know what to expect from the Klingons at this point, just what little they have from the Archer days and pre-warp five contact with the Vulcans (who were at the "shoot first, don't ask questions unless the Klingons decide to talk to you first", point).

Save Kat and lose his command, or let Kat die and carry on as if nothing happened.
Well, this is pure speculation of course, but I think the way the captain goes about saving, or attempting to save, Cornwell might be the thing that allows him to keep his command, whether he succeeds in saving or not.

I think it might also be a decent way to conclude their friendship if that is what is destined to happen.

I mean I can see a scenario where Lorca shows Cornwell through his rescue attempt, that though he is impaired, it is still better for Starfleet and the Federation that he stay in command of the Discovery. Perhaps Lorca, while obeying orders, comes close to rescuing her, but suceeds or nearly suceeds only when he improvises.

Having seen Lorca in tight pants and also shirtless, he's definitely enough Captain.

*wiggles eyebrows*

Yes from the Klingons' agenda it was a win/win they would get Sarek or in this case a Star Fleet Admiral. How come our lot (Starfleet/Vulcans) didn't figure this out?
The Vulcans DID. there are many Vulcans who would like to see Sarek gone, and Vulcan membership in the Federation dissolved. Sarek at this time is still somewhat of an idealist - a view he looses after the situations with Burnhan's situation, Spock deciding to join Starfleet, etc.

(I say that because Spock is like his Father in TNG's "Unification" in taht he's willing to take a big risk; and Sarek (because he's already been through a situation like that with what we've seen on ST: D is saying basically - "I know you want this, but really, theres nno chance...trust me, I know...")

I'm sure with enough blind guesses, at least one of us will be right!

He has to save her. Anything less would simply put the character beyond the pale with the audience.

I actually think we are about to head into a mini-arc with Burnham, Saru and Tyler stuck on that planet while the Discovery is ordered to deal with Cornwell's capture.

I'm guessing the ship we see gettin pounded in the preview is the initial rescue attempt. Once that fails, they get called in, leaving the landing party behind.
