It's all a matter of context.
I like your idea and reasoning. There's nothing sexist about two women bonding through adversity. It's could be a bromance, but in reverse.![]()
I suspect they will try to save her but fail due to unforeseen circumstances or a direct order to destroy the ship/installation she is on.If it serves Lorca's vision of the "greater good", he'll let the Klingons turn Cornwell into Admiral McNuggets.
Announce "We Come In Peace"Context of Grey areas.....kill them all!

On his own (like he's done before) - no. IF Starfleet orders him to, he will. Again, he wanted her to go on that mission and had a good idea what wouyld probably happen, so yeah, he wants to keep command and hopes she doesn't return. So is this going to be an example of Discovery's hero Captain? Is he going to save Cornwell? Or is he going to wimp out and all of a sudden wait for orders? Let's be honest orders mean shit to him when he's looking after his own skin. He's killed a whole crew before to save them from Klingon torture.
I fully expect him to save Katrina.. yes?
I wouldn't mind seeing him wrestle with not rescuing her, then deciding that he can't let her die, authorize the extraction and then only to have it fail because he didn't act quickly enough.
More torment for Lorca that way, and he's been playing torment so well lately.
That's because she's planning to torture Lorca. She's on a shopping spree.Spoiler.. reference.
You see Katrina looking at instruments of torture. Poor thing.
Honestly.. think about it... Kats definitely going to have a different outlook on the War after her visit with the Klingons.. she might even start sleeping with a Phaser under her pillow too. Once you've stared into hell.. you may not think being a bit paranoid is not a good thing.

Her relationship status on Spacebook: It's complicated. So dual phaser play when they get back together? With mutual chocking of course.
Spoiler.. reference.

I wonder how much we are reading into this that the characters supposedly would not. Or are too stupid to. I mean Sarek attending wasn't necessarily going to be him walking into a trap, otherwise why would anyone risk him or any one for that matter? Why is it now assumed it was an obvious trap (apart from us seeing it was because we are smart viewers). I'm not sure what the whole idea of such 'talks' was supposed to achieve if it was always going to be an ambush. And if it was a given that it was an ambush then why not be more prepared. On his own (like he's done before) - no. IF Starfleet orders him to, he will. Again, he wanted her to go on that mission and had a good idea what wouyld probably happen, so yeah, he wants to keep command and hopes she doesn't return.

Lorca didn't know, but he was more than willing to use what happened to his advantage. To me it is convenient now to say Lorca knew Katrina would be at risk because we know she has threatened him.
