Is Lorca Captain enough to save the Admiral?

It's a shame Tyler didn't accompany the Admiral.. being such a security whiz. He wouldn't have died. However he was needed to give that fab speech at the dance party Discovery used to launch the Admiral's rescue.. oh hang on, wrong priority.

Oh, please. That's like saying you hope Tyler died. He wouldn't have stopped it and would have died in the process.

Strange anti-hero: wants to avoid going by the book but does so after, looks tough but tolerates Stamets' taunts, finds no one among the crew to replace his security officer, etc.

Whatever elite qualities that are supposed to be seen in this "black ops" ship aren't clearly seen.

That's what's so interesting.

He probably is badly written but he's kind of written to be.. bad. Yet I find he's acted well and that is a bit of a saving grace.

Hasn't the boat sailed on this? I mean, months passed in the last episode. All after she was taken. Kinda late for a rescue now.

Yes from the Klingons' agenda it was a win/win they would get Sarek or in this case a Star Fleet Admiral. How come our lot (Starfleet/Vulcans) didn't figure this out?

They did. Sarek thought the chance for peace was worth the risk (a la Spock going to Romulus). Star Fleet likely performed the same calculation with the added possibility of sowing division amongst the Klingons as the meeting was supposed to include 2 Klingon houses that were unhappy with Kol.

I'm not sure if it's been months, I think at most it's been a couple of weeks. Regardless, it's a bit hard to rescue someone when you don't know where they are.

I guess when you're having a jolly good party rescue planning gets in the way.

Yeah, because starfleet couldn't possibly have ordered another starship to look for the admiral. Considering the promo of this week's episode featured cornwell and had another Starfleet ship coming under attack from the Klingons, it's possible thats the case.

I can't because I got used to character development in the other shows.
And that's your prerogative. :)

I'm trying my hardest to meet DISCO on its own terms and not compare it to other shows. I'd rather work with it as it is presented, and deal with the gaps as they come up.

YMMV :)
