If you are like me (I have an older component HD TV, before HDMI) I probably won't buy an HD version of anything until that TV craps out.
I have bought SE versions of films in the past, but then I haven't been able to unload the regular versions on anyone, so I don't do that anymore.
Now if the studios had a buyback program for the regular disk, I would happily buy another, but rebuying the same content with only a little extra? No.
Nowdays, I wait for a version of the DVD that I want to buy. It must have commentary tracks, deleted scenes, additional cuts, or something, or I wait.
What does a component HD TV have to do with it?
Blu ray players (and HD DVD players) send a HD picture over component as well HDMI.
I don't get the reasoning.
As to the main subject.........
I have seen the 2 disc sets as low as $7.99 as various major stores.
So, if you feel that's not too much to pay for features and deleted scenes--go for it.
But, I'm pretty sure the Blu-ray versions will have loads of never before seen extras. that is going to be a major selling point for getting the fans to buy the movies for the 3rd 4th or 7th time!!!
