Is it uncouth to wear a grey bath robe with a black sock?

What is this colour coordination of which you all speak? I just wear what feels right.

Obviously the problem isn't the color. It's a red herring!

What your girlfriend is actually saying, is that you should wear bunny slippers with the bathrobe.

Also seriously.. it is home, wear whatever you want.
My penchant for wearing a grey bath robe and a black sock could be a relationship breaker. However, I have stamina to persevere - alone if necessary.

Seems to me the actual issue is bathrobe/black socks vs. girlfriend. You need to decide which you want more. And, it seems you've made your choice.

I keep all my males' socks color-coded according to their rank, and of course they each have only one. But everyone knows Alpha wears red. Eta and Theta (green and blue) really envy him for it, Lambda and Tau (purple and orange) are good at breaking up the fights, though. Omega wears black, because he's kind of a loser but it makes him feel cooler to do so. Because of the Dunning-Kruger Effect it was fairly easy to convince him he is Alpha, and the black sock is really the icing on the... cake... of this deception. It's really sweet, how funny and charming and alpha he thinks he is.

Who wears white? Huh?!

I think it's really telling about the SJW Agenda that there is no place for white in your utopia. :shifty:

I do, with jeans. Never been one for fashion rules, though.

Ask Men agrees with you, except for sports, in which case it's white or go home.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go rethink my fashion choices. And my life. I'll just be in this corner over there sobbing quietly to myself.

I always wear white socks (even with a suit  ).

Why?
Do you just hate non-white socks on ideological grounds? Religious grounds?

I mean, wearing white socks with a suit seems like a pretty pointless eyesore.

No, I just think black socks are uncomfortable - too tight. They hurt my feet.

Besides, it's so rare that I need to dress up for anything at all (been about 20 years since I wore a suit anyway) that I hardly need them.

I agree. This isn't about wardrobe at all. It's about being willing to compromise. And it's pretty sad to me that you don't appear to be willing to even consider trying to compromise.

I'm wearing black socks right now and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Why would the color of the socks have anything to do with how tight they are?

I think it has more to do with the type of socks. White are usually designed for athletics, colored for dress.

Maybe I just used to pick the wrong brands. All I know is, all the black socks I personally have worn, were very uncomfortable and much too tight. White athletic socks are a much better fit for me. Plus, there are so few times I ever need to dress up, I see little need to worry about "proper" sock color.

The only thing I know about matching socks with something else is that my son says sock color should match shoe color (except for special circumstances). He jumped all over me for wearing white socks with black tennis.

The socks are not the problem. It's the robe.

Wear a v-neck sweater with your black socks and she'll be fine.

I haven't worn bath robes (of any kind) or black socks in decades.

I always wear white socks (even with a suit  ). And no bathrobe.

You seem very emphatic about the bathrobe.

What monstrous thing did bathrobes (black... white... any color, really) do to merit the decades-long rejection? Have you ever considered HOW DEEPLY HURT THE BATHROBES MUST FEEL ABOUT THIS?
