is it hypocritical to believe in a strong welfare state but be against immigration?

Sounds like you need to focus more on your own work. If you've got time to watch a co-worker fail at their job, you've got time to improve your own performance.

Wait a minute, are you saying that there are a bunch of illegal immigrants and welfare recipients working at the unemployment office (since you're complaining about their work ethic in your office that you've worked at for years)? Government jobs usually pay fairly reasonable wages (lowering the likelihood of one needing welfare) and have more extensive background checks (lowering the likelihood of illegal immigrants working there), so I have trouble accepting that this problem is as widespread in your workplace as you're leading us to believe.

How do you know so many of your fellow employees are illegals or on welfare? Do they all announce it to the whole office full of government workers and managers who would have even more incentive than private sector companies to make sure illegals aren't working there?

Well, I've been asked to do their work for them. Each of them makes more money than I do, but I'm expected to do their work for them.

I meant "here" as in the state USA where I live not in my office.

Okay that's ridiculous. I'm good at my job and I complete everything each day.
I've been asked by various supervisors to assist others, who also make more money than I do, to complete their work.
That's how I know that they don't do their work.

Are you sure? Because the top posts seems to refer to your workplace specifically.

And if these people are not in your workplace, how do you know their works habits in such detail? Surely you wouldn't be basing on this on personal anecdotes from unemployed people coming into your office?

I work in the unemployment office.
The government workers that work with me some are great but there are a lot that are slackers and the rest of us are supposed to not notice it. I have been asked to do their work to catch them up.

My job entails many aspects of knowledge regarding what unemployed individuals are doing. Working while receiving unemployment benefits.
And numerous cases every week of a person illegally using another person's social security number.

How do I know you're good at your job? So far, you seem to spend far too much time trying to see what other people are doing, and being frustrated over how much more they are paid than you, which is interesting because in many workplaces, discussing your salary with others, or your superiors discussing their salaries with you, is frowned upon. You're also telling stories about so-called "illegal immigrants" taking advantage of a system of which you are an administer. Does this mean you see these things happening and don't report them? Why do they keep happening? So no, I'm not sure that you are doing what you say you are.

So, what does that have to do with people on welfare or illegal immigrants? Because, you know, that what the thread is about (the immigrants part at least) and that's who you made it seem like you were complaining about in the rest of your posts before I asked why the unemployment office was full of illegal immigrant and welfare collecting workers and you changed your tune. Now it's just generic complaints about your allegedly lazy US citizen, non-welfare collecting coworkers at the unemployment office.

That's not the part I was disputing, just the complaints about your coworkers.

And exactly who would I report the illegals too?
Do you seriously think that I'm the only one in a building of over 300 people that has this knowlege?
Nobody cares nor will law enforcement do anything. I'm pretty sure that you were joking.

The reason I know that they get paid more is that there is a web site where you can look up everyone's wages.

Yes I SEE what they are doing when the boss comes up and asks me, because my work gets done every day, if I can spend some extra time 'helping' so and so catch up.
So I guess that means I must be doing something right for the boss to ask me to help these others.

I also SEE them walking past my desk while I work and disappear for long amounts of time.
They made our secretary log in paperwork to track the work because it seemed paperwork was disappearing after the secretary distributed it.

If you fell that I'm am lying I'm happy for you. Hsve a nice day
