^^^My point in the post about Axanar was that their approach to the TOS era was far more respectful and in line with Trek canon than STD. You could tell Robert Meyer Burnett knew his material. If an approach like that came from an officially sanctioned Trek series, I doubt there would be as heavy of a viewer and fan divide as their is with STD.
Scrolling through the Youtube comments on the 3.4M viewed Prelude to Axanar trailer, many agree with me.
Sorry, but no, it really wasn't. GR wasn't that keen on showcasing the 'Military' aspect of Star Trek - yet that's EXACTLY what Prelude to Axanar does. Same with the finalized script. It's more about the military aspects and ship hardware then it is about any aspect of the Human condition. Garth is a classic 'Gary Stu' type character. He pretty easily tackles all any/all obstacles put before his without breaking a sweat.
Axanar also uses designs from the JJ Verse (which a number of Trek fans don't really care for. Hell, a good number of the effects shots are nearly 1 for 1 ripoffs (composition wise) directly from "Star Trek: Into Darkness"; so they are even LESS original and stealing on a creative front AS WELL as attempting to profit monetarily directly from the Star Trek IP illegally.
So yeah - sorry - but I don't see the "Respect for Star Trek" you're talking about.
