For example the ferengi and borg showed up briefly in enterprise without being named. Could that happen in Discovery?
I think Trill could be cool considering Dax knew Bones. Cardassians are interesting as they are name checked in '09 in the Kelvin timeline. As long as they're not aliens who definitely weren't contacted until later (Ferengi, Borg, probably Cardassians, etc.), I don't see why it would be a problem. There were many, many, minor alien species we've seen many times but know very little about.
True, and I wouldn't really mind if they showed up. It was never really established when they were first contacted anyway as far as I know. Bolians and Yridians would be other good candidates for inclusion, I think. If anybody from the Gamma or Delta quadrants showed up, it would definitely be a problem, but the odds of that are probably quite low.I think Trill could be cool considering Dax knew Bones. Agreed. But the galaxy is so big we don't have to see them all. It can make the "world" feel small. But then it does bring in question how large the Vulcans loom as the goto "elves" of the Star Trek mythos.True, and I wouldn't really mind if they showed up. No Ferengi. No Borg. No Romulans. Almost everyone else is fair game.
