Is anyone else excited for new aliens?

Is anyone else excited for the new aliens we’ll meet that we never have before, yet that will become part of the great pantheon of friend and foe we’ve gotten to know over the decades?

TOS gave us the Klingons, Romulans (Balance of Terror!) and Gorn (The Arena!); TNG the Ferengi, Cardassians (The Wounded!), and Borg (Q Who! Best of Both Worlds!) (and Q!); DS9 the Bajorans, Changelings, and Jem’Hadar; VOY the Viddians, Talaxians, and Hirogen; ENT the Suliban, Xindi, and dare we say Andorians? DSC gave us the Kelpians and Ba’ul; PIC gave us Kowat Milat and Synths, and what was that Beta Ennari guy??

How exciting it is to await new episodes that’ll give us new worlds and new civilizations to get to know and fit into the galaxy as we know it.

I remember back in the day, people would complain about "made up" aliens-of-the-week and want more of the Vulcans or Klingons or whatever.

How times change. I just hope the makeups are better than TNG/DS9/VOY forehead spam.

Not terribly, although when they show up it is fun. Mostly what we're getting so far is what we've gotten for 95 out of a hundred alien races in the history of Star Trek: people who look different, have different beliefs than Our People, but reason and interact in entirely human ways. But my understanding is that later in the first five episodes there's at least one cool - but not entirely new - exception.

Hopefully at some point the unused concept art for Saru, the one with all the eyes, will be used. I’ve always loved the look of that.

There's a species that appears only on the main viewer which I'm pretty sure is done with CG. Their behavior is very human, though.

Trek is a bit of a prisoner of its own success. The forehead alien makeup was so popular that it became ubiquitous, giving us the forehead alien of the week and an overpopulated galaxy full of humanoids. TOS meanwhile, while having a larger proportion of completely human looking aliens, also gave us more non-humanoids than your typical Trek series, usually in the form of gaseous and evolved energy beings, though occasionally a Horta, Gorn, and those little guys in “Catspaw.” It also tried tricks like casting women as androgynous male Talosians, and little people as gold-skinned Ithenites in Journey to Babel — as well as in that episode basketball player tall men as other aliens, and bearded women in the background as other aliens.

The point is that they got creative when they could within the limits of budget for their times.

We’re in a different time now, and we can do more with modern tech and modern budgets, and I’d love it if they used all the tricks available to them to make the galaxy far more diverse both visually/physically and psychologically than we’ve become accustomed to.

I'm interested in the reconciliation between the Xindi and the UFP since its 100 years later, but I don't think it will happen. New aliens will be cool to see but I bet money you will read the complaint, why did we never see these aliens on TNG or VOY or DS9 etc cos the universe is oh so small

How many Tellarites did we see on TNG or DS9 or VOY? I’m okay with the Xindi being Federation members.

Since it is now official Trek lore since ENT, (not at I am a Trektalibanista, far from it!), that Andor, Tellar and Vulcan were the founding members of the UFP I expect nuTrek to be more diverse and have at least a few of these species represented, even if its background crew.
At least SNW has the Andorian engineer as a main character
