Went without saying that I was seeing the sequel. The War Machine armor is just icing on the cake.

Yeah, but it's Marvel, so they will clash a bit before becoming pals.
But Starks and Rhodey are already pals.
Unless the friendship is tested due to how Stark handles the tech vs how the Army/Government sees it. Rhodey may be put into a 'loyalty test' during act 1or2 of the movie. Maybe?

Norton would be cool however with the talk of late that the studio is eyeing Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye for Avengers I could see that. Despite the tone of the link it seems that if they are 'building' to Avengers that adding another piece ala post credits cameo with another known Avenger would make sense. Of course he may be a cameo in Thor or Captain America so who knows but Iron Man seems a "practical hero" so an archer hero ala Hawkeye fits into the IM world as well since he's "practical".

How many people are gonna see this poster and think the movie is gonna be Iron Man vs Evil Iron man? Now that they are expanding the armoured cast possibly with whiplash as well do we think we might get an armour wars in the next movie?
As to wether I will see this movie, well I still say that Iron Man is the best comic book movie we've had so far so yeah, probably.

Does it matter if that's what they think? I don't see how people would come to that conclusion considering both figures are back to back rather than positioned as if about to collide with one another.
That's pretty much it. 90% of the audience will go into it not giving a shit and enjoying it regardless of the impression a movie poster may or may not have given them, and the other 10% will know everything about War Machine.
Either way, 126% of the entire population of the world is going to go see IM2.

Most people who aren't familiar with the comics, I imagine. He certainly fits the profile: 'ominous' coloured-version of the standard armor, black and gray with glowing red eyes, posed in a stance that mirrors Iron Man's and in doing so evokes usual notions of duality like good/evil... Indeed, I wonder if this isn't a deliberate fake-out. Marketing people couldn't not be aware of the image that's being projected here; but there's nothing wrong with throwing the public a curveball every now and again.
