Internet Explorer vs Fire Fox??

firefox, but not the latest version, I dont use that

I do still use IE at places where I dont have a choice, but it makes me love Firefox all the more

Firefox for me (and has been for a long time now), although there are a couple of sites it doesn't like and won't render properly for some reason. I use Opera for those.

My favorite Firefox add on is Adblock Plus, it blocks banner ads and web site ads, it's amazing how fast websites come up now without them, especially Trekbbs.

NoScript allows normal ads to get through, but blocks potentially harmful ones and those that are a general nuisance, But you have to teach it which sites to trust or not…
Plus, you don't get into a lot of trouble for using it here :rommie:

I switch between FF and IE 7, but FF is my standard browser. I find that when I have more that 2 tabs open in IE, it slows to an absolute crawl and takes every resource available on my PC. Currently, I have 8 tabs open in FF and no problems.
That's strange, I never had that problem with IE. I have now 6 tabs open and it's working just fine.

It could be my craptastic laptop.

NoScript got rid of those annoying animated dancing cowboys ads, among others.

Well I tried Fire Fox it didn't seem to like my facebook page or parts of it and I tried Internet Explorer8 it wont allow me to log on to face book unles I enable the cookies, and I can't find out where to do that.
Arrgg!

I´m a web developer. So I occasionally am forced to open IE for some compatibility tests but apart from that I´m a Firefox guy who occasionally strays to Opera because they offer different debugging tools for Javascript and the like.

Haven´t used IE for anything private in years and certainly don´t miss it. Chrome isn´t bad but they´ve still got to work out some kinks before it can be considered a competitor and from experience Safari has become almost as crappy as IE where it counts. But at least it´s not pulling stunts like IE which doesn´t even follow the standards of Microsoft´s own Javascript/ECMAScript dialect. :wtf:

One of the great things about Firefox is that you can customize it like crazy and if you´re still not satisfied you can easily write your own addons without much effort.

I switched to Firefox years ago. I like it, but during the past few months, I'll occasionally notice FF hogging CPU, causing my laptop's fan to spaz out. It also frequently uses half a gig of RAM. When I only have a few static pages open.

I downloaded Google Chrome and quite like it but I have a problem that maybe someone can help me with.

Sometimes when I click on tabs they close rather than letting me switch from one tab to another either though I don't click anywhere near the little x. I think this mainly happens after I have used the mouse to scroll. I am not sure if this is a problem with Chrome or more a problem with my mouse.

Sounds like a bug or you´re still pressing the mouse wheel. In browsers with the Mozilla engine a middle click on a tab usually means you want to close it

I decided to try Windows Seven and installed it on Saturday. I haven't downloaded FireFox yet and have been experimenting with IE8. It's actually not half bad.

I use firefox, especially since I found out how to tweak it to make it even faster ;)

I'm wearing a Firefox shirt today. I think that shows where I stand on the issue. :techman:

I use Firefox on my netbook and don't have any problems with it.

Depends on the situation. Memory problems can often be traced back to addons which cause memory leaks. A common problem in older versions but it has become more rare in 3.x.

I just uninstalled a bunch of addons that I rarely if ever use, and just kept "the essentials", FF does seem to run faster for me now, esp booting up.

I'll just throw this out there...

It only counts if you use Firefox and a Linux Distro or OSX.
