Interesting: The Casting of ST: DS9

Durin' his Q&A at a scifi con in Dallas back in '09, Rene Auberjonois said that when he auditioned for Odo, the studio exec from Paramount was the only one who didn't like him for the role. He would go in, read, everyone loved him, but the studio exec. Finally Michael Piller asked the exec what the problem was, and he said that Rene was too old. Piller's response? "You know we're going to cover his face with make-up, right?"

And finally the exec agreed for Rene to get the role.

They incorrectly list the TNG episode with Famke Janssen as "The First Duty". She was actually in "The Perfect Mate".

And they also incorrectly state that Michelle Forbes "turned down the role of Kira Nerys". No, she didn't. She turned down the offer to reprise the role of Ro Laren, this time as a regular character. The character of Kira Nerys was created as a result.

The article does reveal some things I didn't know. I knew that Max Grodenchick auditioned for Quark, but I had no idea that Andrew Robinson auditioned for Odo.

I was also amused to note these two blatant errors, though I guess one could attribute the second one to poor phrasing.

The other tidbits were news to me as well, so that is interesting, to the extent that those points are accurate ;)

Armin Shimerman and Max Grodenchik played two Ferengis each on TNG before they became Quark and Rom on DS9? I remember all of the characters but didn't realize the connection. Cool.
