Interesting Story Ideas and Relevations

Eh. Sounds like those Star Trek episodes where we get to see "a new side to the borg" or "a new side to the Klingons" or whatever. By episodes end, the excellent enemy has been neutered. Give the Master some sympathy and his own side to things, and soon he won't be a villain anymore.

He needs to always be an arch nemesis, in my book. That doesn't more pure evil, but pure nemesis.

Ah but the whole point is that the next time he regenerates he'll be back to being all bad...in fact he might be even worse.

I've often toyed with this idea that The Master was The Doctor's Son (and therefore Susan's Father) and that his state of mind and the Timelords refusal to help/heal him (something I'm sure could be done) led to The Doctor and Susan fleeing Gallifrey.

I can see (especially with Matt Smith now as The Doctor) a two-part episode where Susan returns to find her Grandfather (and the interesting dynamic that the Granddaughter now looks like her own Grandfather's Grandmother) calming to have a way to save her father, and the whole sorted affair is revealed.

I've been wanting Susan to appear for ages now for exactly that effect. That's one of the reasons why I was so disappointed with "The Doctor's Daughter."

Well the docor did promise Susan, 'one day I shall come back' in that very memorable speech when she left. I guess one could say the Five Doctors filled that promise but it still feel empty given the plot of the Five Doctors.
