Instead of Janeway...

If you are talking about the Pocket Books relaunch of TNG, you are so right. I don't read them.

Ditto on that! Besides, who the hell is Captain Robo-whatever and why should we care since he/she is not canon! ;)

Captain Robau is from the new Star Trek movie so he IS canon. Oh and while we're on the subject of what's canon so are one nacelle starships as once again one was in the new movie.

You mean the one who died in the first ten minutes? I don't think I ever caught his name...

I think all the captains would have done the same with the array. As Janeway said, they were involved. Assuming the same things happened to the other crew in the same situation, the array would be gone.

Other stuff, such as Borg encounters, would have been different.

If it was Picard in the E-D, they would totally p'wn the Delta Quadrant. :p

Everything you need to know about Robau is right here. Also, we never saw him die on screen. ;)

^ I didn't know he had such a cult following! I guess that's what I get for not checking in with that forum lately. ;)

Sorry but I can't help  at the guesses at what the other captains would do.

Unfortunately I can't come up with anything better.

hmm maybe Picard would have given up going home and just explored?

The NX-01 in the Delta Quadrant would be interesting. Archer would probably not even have tried to get home (at warp 5, it takes 560 years), and instead gone exploring, and wouldn't really have realized how dangerous the Delta Quadrant is before Vidiians harvested one of his crewmen. They wouldn't reach the Borg any time soon, as it would take them 24 years to get to their space.

I think Kirk would do a lot of things the same as Janeway, as they are a lot alike. I really wonder how he would interact with the Borg, particularly eith Seven and the Queen.

The Enteprise-D or -E would likely make toast out of every Kazon that tried to put his grubby hands on their technology. Even those huge ugly Kazon battleships would hardly be able to scratch it's hull. I also think Picard would not make Chakotay first officer if Riker died, but 2nd. That's because there are 1000 people on the Enterprise, and 150 on Voyager, meaning the ratio of starfleet officers vs. maquis would be much greater.

If the Defiant was lost in the Delta Quadrant, they would also easily make toast of most enemies. There would likely be more, though (Hey, if you were an alien who wanted to conquer a ship, would you choose a ship with a thousand crew of nearly a kilometre long or one with 40 crew of a hundred metres long?). It would be a lot of fun to see Quark trying to earn profit at every planetary stop.

How did the old joke go...working from memory here...an unknown alien ship decloaks:

Archer squints at it.
Kirk seduces it.
Picard surrenders to it.
Sisko shoots at it.
And Janeway? Well, her writers never really agreed what she's supposed to do.

But seriously, I think the best answer to this question might be to ask whether any of the captains would have taken the deal offered in the second season episode "Alliances", which would have changed the whole mission from that of a solo ship to that of an armada of allied ships. Archer and Sisko would be the most likely candidates, but note that while both those characters made serious moral compromises, they did so with the entire future of humanity at stake — quite a different scale than just your own ship and crew at stake. I don't think they would have taken the deal, either.

Captain Jellico would have made Seven of Nine wear a uniform! :borg:

I think Seen of Nine looked better in a starfleet uniform, leaves more to the imagination.

IMO, every other Captain with the exception of Janeway and Archer would have had the ability to fight off the Kazon due to the more powerful starships. They could have then sent themselves back to the alpha quadrant and set a delayed explosive to destroy the Array.

You know I know at least one area that Sisko and the Defiant would have done better then Janway and Voyager in, The Swarm. All Sisko would have to do is cloak until he gets to the other side of their space.

I agree that she looks good in a starfleet uniform. I think Kirk's Enterprise isn't stroinger then Voyager, though. If you watch In a Mirror, Darkly and Trek XI, you'll see that starship power increases massively in a century.
