Indiana Jones 5. It's official.

The trailer looks great. If the actual film is as good as it’s shaping up to be, I’m going to be so excited for Mangold’s Star Wars movie.

1. Ain't shocking considering Ford's age.
2. Never say never.

I can almost guarantee there will be more Indiana Jones stuff, even if they end up waiting until Ford passes to do it (legally they can do what they want, but probably won't want to piss Ford off by recasting while he's still around to object). The man's 80 years old, and while I hope he's around for a long time to come he won't be around forever. Indiana Jones is easily the second biggest property to come from the Lucasfilm purchase, getting just one movie out of it is not going to be enough for Disney, nor should it be.

Time travel of some kind must happen since passenger vehicles didn't have seatbelts in the time of Nazi Germany ("Fasten your seatbelt. There might be some turbulence.") and Mads Mikkelsen's villain looks much older while in the German uniform.

I'm pretty sure they are in an airplane there, which definitely had seatbelts

Nothing too revealing, although it's interesting how they're still hedging about who Helena's father is when the trailer all but tells us it's Basil Shaw as played by Toby Jones. Unless it's misdirection but I doubt it.
I don't know anything about the film, but watching the trailer and hearing Indy describe her as her "goddaughter," I assumed immediately that Ox was her father. No idea if that works, but there's nothing in Young Indy and The Crystal Skull that would disprove it.

Toby Jones's Character (Basil Shaw? his name hasn't been confirmed) is her father, hence the cut to him accidentally shooting Indy after Indy talks to Helen about it.

Yup, exactly.

I got the name from Wikipedia and their sources for the name are split so might not be accurate. Separated by months, Digital Spy mentions Basil while Collider mentions Helena Shaw, but neither makes a direct connection with both names, so a Wiki editor may have jumped the gun based on what was mentioned in the trailer. That's my bad for taking the sourcing at face value when I cited the name earlier.

Which is fine, but for someone who hasn't been keeping up, Ox was the first person I thought of. Later, I though Marcus Brody might've been a possibility, but I couldn't think of anything that drove him out of his mind, whereas Ox was half-mad. :)

I did wonder if we're going to learn she's actually Indy's daughter to line up with Young Indy.

I actually missed you putting his name in your post, I put the question mark because I also pieced his name together from disparate sources.

Ah, fair enough. I just figured you questioned my posting of it since his name isn't mentioned in the trailer.

I wonder if the end of the franchise thing would include spin-offs focused on other characters? Just based off what we see in the trailer, Helena looks like exactly the kind of character that could get her own spin-off.

There was a report that Disney wants Lucasfilm to focus solely on Star Wars, the Indy related animated series being a casualty of that, allegedly. So theoretically we could get a Shaw spin off if she is well received, but I wouldn't expect an announcement any time soon. Not until Star Wars is healthy again.

Star Wars is doing great. Lots of successful and critically-acclaimed shows with many more to come. It's perfectly healthy now.

I'm guessing you're referring the situation with the films. As Kathleen Kennedy noted in an interview yesterday, most of those films aren't "shelved" but still in development, either because they're still working on the idea or there are scheduling issues. That includes Rogue Squadron and whether it's a film or a series. The fabled "Kevin Feige film" was never something they announced because there was never anything discussed or pitched, but it's a conversation that she's opened to when he has an idea to go with.

Yes, while TV is doing fine, the big cash cow, the films, doesn't have any direction at all right now. Each sequel trilogy film made less than the one before it, and there was a decided lack of sequel trilogy cosplayers at Celebration.

There won't be another Indy universe film we get a Star Wars film in theaters and it's a hit, not just coasting on the brand.

For me, the non-sequel films were the best so far. Rogue One of course, but the Solo movie was much better than it is given credit for. The Disney+ series have all been excellent with the exception of Mandalorian season 2.5 (which was still enjoyable). As a fan of the on screen Star Wars I am really enjoying where we are right now. I'm also one who thinks the MCU series have been better than the movies recently.

The Indiana Jones universe could continue on Disney+ either with a new actor for Indy or a spin off set in the same universe and I would be there to watch it.
