Incredible Hulk to end

So in between the space of Incredible Hulk and Hulk, Bruce and Betty managed to break up again!

Brevoort really does have it out for Greg Pak.

We actually don't know yet that Betty and Banner are broken up, since Bruce is still possessed I think. Fear Its Self is still going on.

I just finished reading issue one and really enjoyed it. Amanda Von Doom (no relation apparently) reminds me of a more kick ass version of Abigail Brand. I've really been enjoying Jason Aaron's writing as of late so I'll be following this. Marc Silvestri's art is pretty awesome in this as well. It has a Planet Hulk feel to it in my opinion.

it's been so long since I read a comic book- who the hell is Red Hulk?

In season four of Heroes, Hiro gets his mind turned into a 14 year old version of himself, and he goes apeshit ballisitc super pissed when he see's that Hulk is red now.

I think he called the idea "Stupid".

I liked Incredible Hulk #1 a lot. Nice to see that the big green guy was depicted as intelligent and noble. Plus, bearded Hulk. Yay!

i thought it was great. loved Silvestri's artwork. feels pretty natural for the Hulk to end up as a hero for the Moleoids. and yeah, bearded Hulk is cool. Banner as the bad guy is something that was previously touched upon but this looks like he's Dr. Monroe..which should be very interesting.

I think this picks up from something in Greg Pak's Hulk: that Bruce is more dangerous than the Hulk and that the Hulk persona is there to protect people from him rather than the opposite.

I opted to not get Firestorm #2 and despite likely waiting to get the TPB of this arc I decided to get issue #1 and am curious to see how it reads later tonight.
It seems comments so far are that it was a good first issue, is that a fair take away?

Yeah like I said Betty will be explained as we go along...and yeah i think she has a crossover appearance in "Hulk" with her Dad before Matt Fraction uses her in his Defenders roster.

I read the #1 issue and found it to be overall very light. Not much substance, any meat in the issue was just on the last few pages. I don't really consider the opening pages where Hulk is at peace by himself to be ground breaking. We've seen that time and time again. I'll decide on the second issue when it comes out. If I'm not overly impressed I'll wait for the TPB for which it seems is the style it's being written for.

It wasn't meant to be ground breaking or provide a new insight. The first issue was meant to set up the new paradigm and introduce the new take on both Hulk and Banner which it did perfectly. As I stated in my brief review it has a Planet Hulk feeling to it and I believe this was done on purpose. Most comics these days are being written for TPB...it still astonishes me when fans point this out like it is a big deal. They're all mostly arc oriented now. I don't mean to single you out or anything Craig but I've often notice this kind of comment from fans who are disgruntled with the style of writing, and yes I myself have felt like that too. It is just how things are now. There are rarely single self contained issues any more. Some writers are able to write in this structure better than others I suppose. Jason Aaron is one of my favourite new writers (well new to me) and I thought he did a really good job at setting up the plot for the rest of the first arc.
