I just got it in the mail - Amazon Germany has been getting better and better with making sure that US books arrive within the week they're released.
I'm really looking forward to reading it on my 530 km train ride tomorrow.

The status of my order is still "The order will be shipped soon", which doesn't mean shit. I once had that status on an order for almost two weeks before they finally shipped it.
And if you want to preorder the Supernatural books coming out in February, April and June, you're out of luck, too. They have them listed as not available because supposedly their wholesaler doesn't have them listed yet according to the reply I got when I contacted them about it. Must be a shitty wholesaler, pretty much every other online bookseller in Germany (and every other Amazon outlet for that matter) has them listed for preorder.
So in my opinion their performance when it comes to American/English books has actually gotten worse.
^ Two weeks of "order shipping soon" is too long - you should have them call you. My order containing Inception had that status for over a day, which I think is unusual for Amazon - but it finally shipped yesterday morning.
When did you order your copy of Inception? I logged in my order on Tuesday morning at 7, when they were showing 3 pcs. in stock.
BTW, have you ever (pre-)ordered from BOL.de? If you order more than a month in advance, they'll simply cancel after five weeks because they have been making you wait for too long - doesn't matter if the actual release date is still in the future or not. Kind of makes pre-ordering senseless. Also, the order status is only updated overnight, and replies to email enquiries take forever. They do have slightly better prices, but I still think I'm better off at Amazon.

I preordered Inception back in December, so the fact that someone ordering it when it is "in stock" gets it before people who preordered it kind of proves my point about their lack of performance. 
But the sad thing is even with fuck-ups like this they're still better than the other booksellers I tried.

Well I havent had luck of finding the novel anywhere,at least not now. So I had no other choice of just ordering online. So hopefully it will be here at my home in the mailbox by the end of next week. I hope to read it as soon as it arrives.
Popped into my local Waterstones today and enquired about Trek books. There response was that the books come from America and that it would be a special order. Must be a recession thing as books always came from America. In fairness they did offer to order them but I said no thanks as I could cross the road to another bookshop and buy the latest books there.
That sounds strange, which Waterstones was it?
The way I see it, the British/European bookshops ship a shed load over and then distribute it across their stores as they are published over there and come across here (possibly by paddle steamer) so ordering especially from America for Waterstones makes no sense what so ever.
No, in each country with a Simon & Schuster office, the books are imported by them (and then they are treated like a locally-produced book) but, until the JJ movie last year, these were always sea-freighted. When Diamond Distributors dropped Pocket Books from their catalogue (of mainly comics, magazines and collectibles) those specialist SF shops - who used to import air-freighted copies of Star Trek novels via Diamond - had to seek out a new supplier. What seems to have happened in recent months is that the local S&S gets some ST titles air-freighted, and have absorbed the costs.
Or, each shop can special order a batch by air freight (while waiting for the slow boat to bring the rest), but they won't necessarily special order ST unless they have some regular customers registered who are will to pay a bit extra for air rates.
Finally got mine at Borders today.
Waterstones in Dawson Street in Dublin. There other branch in the city have also not got the new books. I just think they are cutting back on them as I'm sure Trek books are not the only books they stock that come from America. And as I said, there is another bookshop right across the road called Hodges and Figgis who have multiple copies of all new Trek books. The thing is, I think Waterstones either own or own a share in H&F!!
Well if Waterstones want me to order books individually I don't think I will. I'll just shift my allegiances. If I'm in the other Waterstones tomorrow I might ask them bout Trek books and see what their excuses are.

Wouldn't this be an excellent reason for your Waterstones not bothering to stock ST novels?
Bookstores like to have their own speciality lines - very often based upon the personal whims of the management, because those are the areas they know well. Some general bookshops will stock a wide variety but still tend to specialise in crime, or science fiction, or biographies, or NF, and so on.
And the ePub is awful. I'm spending some time to clean up the really poor CCS. For example, there are embedded fonts that aren't even setup correctly to be used. And there are font families specified that have nothing to do with anything. Font sizes are crazy and so are some of the margins. It's just a real mess. And the chapter headers are not setup correctly either. I know I'll get it fixed. But I should not have to do so much work.
I had the same problem. I have been looking for the books since Tuesday this week, and had no luck. I looked in a couple book stores and they dont have it. One said they had it on order, but wont be there until another week or so. So I just decieded to order it off amazon.com yeasterday along with another book I was looking for. So my order probley wont be here until 5 days or so.Which is frustrating,but I'll just have to wait.I'm reading another book in the meantime,until gets here. So once its here I read that book, then finnsh the other once I'm done reading Inception. But Im anxious to read Inception because Im curious as to how Kirk & Carol ment, the same wilth Spock & Lelia.
That's really odd. The Kindle book is fine; a couple errors, but nothing eggregious. Though, as with all their Kindle releases for the last 8 months or so, it doesn't have a table of contents. I wonder why that keeps happening.
nook's B&N version looks to be fine as well. No problems that I can see.
That's par for the course with S&S's releases. I've said "screw it, I'm keeping my MS Reader -> ePub conversions". <_<
