INCEPTION Hits the Shelves

Is the book supose to come out this comming up Tuesday?

Most books don't actually have a fixed release date. The last-Tuesday-of-the-month release date listed online is just a convenient fiction for record-keeping purposes. The book's already on the shelves in some stores, while others may not get it shelved for another week or so, depending on how long it took the trucks to ship it there and how long it takes the bookstore's own staff to get around to shelving it.

I'm still waiting for Waterstones in Dublin to stock The Never-Ending Sacrifice, Precipice, and Synthesis even though another bookshop has all three.

Dare I ask, have you asked when they would be in or just order them or do you periodically go in, have a look then walk out?

If it's the first, it's not Waterstones fault if they don't have it on their shelf now is it.

Remember that some retail bookstores already have pre-orders and it could be that, by the time stock arrives, there are no copies left for the open shelves.

Inception hit my mailbox today, courtesy of Amazon.com.

The cover looks better in person. Anyone know who did the artwork?

If you look on the back cover it should say who the artist was.

Nope, not this time -- that's usually just for trades. Not on the copyrights page on this one either.

Marco used to put the cover art credit on the copyright page; Margaret usually didn't (assuming that the editor is responsible for pulling together the credits, and assuming I'm clear on who edited which book. I could be wrong, but that's what I've thought for the last 4 or 5 years before Marco and Margaret were RIFfed.)

In case anybody in the NYC area is looking, the Borders at Penn Station has copies in stock. Bought mine there this morning! :D

According to the website my local B&N has it in stock, I'm just not sure when I'll get there to pick it up.

I just got mine!! Now I have to delay finishing Christopher's Myriad-U story, Places of Exile, so I can jump right in :techman:

^ And thus, I now have it too. Starting to read tomorrow probably; I'm finishing Being Human at the moment.
