In Search of the Galileo...MYSTERY SOLVED!

Why can't you guys put it my livingroom?? I promise I will come up with a clever "museum-like" name for it.

I can build an extension... or put it on the roof.

Might trick it out with a high performance engine and some mag wheels and drive it around the neighbourhood...a couple of donuts in someone's back yard.. Already picked out a disco ball and black fuzzy dice. It will be great for grocery shopping and getting my gear to gigs.

Thanks for the update CRA :techman:

Great news. Keep us informed about your efforts Loken, I'll be happy to make a donation for the restoration, particularly if the final destination is a museum somewhere - that's where she belongs.

Not one for restoring artifacts, are you?

Lynne, thanks for taking the time to step in and clear up the matter. Yes, when people make certain claims and back them up with very dated materials, it doesn't hold much clout. From your cellphone photos I can see you have the real deal. Sorry to hear that ownership has been such a nightmare for so long... and financial drain! But... given how important original TOS props are, it would be so terrific to have this wonderful piece of Star Trek ephemera restored. Hopefully Drexler, Peters, and others can help make this happen. Please keep us posted! :)

Restore and make it functional.. Face it.. The Galileo is one sweet ride.

Functional? As in replace the marine plywood hull with tritanium and duranium? Put warp coils in those nacelles? A phaser locker in the inner hull? :wtf:

I'm guessing that they meant to make the inside look as close as possible to the on screen version. Sure it will be smaller but I think it would be better than an empty shell.

Take note that, when seated, the windshield is at least a foot above your eye level. And there's zero side or rear view.

Well I certainly hope that that the Galileo does get restored and is displayed somewhere I can see it in person someday. It's pleasantly surprising that she managed to survive all these years.

If you're driving down the freeway in the Galileo, it's like a Hummer. You don't need to see where you're going - everyone else will get out of your way!

Ah! No wonder they photograph and "scale" so well! They're friggin' huge to begin with!

Sincerely,

Bill

C'mon CRA, you've been around the internet long enough. Don't you recognize sarcasm when you read it?
