It was positive for me...I had skipped VOY & DS9. I missd Trek so much after ENT went off the air, I went back & watched those two series.

Positive for me as well. There are some good episodes, interesting revelations and groundwork laid for the foundation of the Federation, although S1 was pedestrian, S2 was faltering but S3 - S4 picked up the tab.

For a B&B affair coming on the immediate heels of VOYAGER, it was surprisingly good and had a few engaging characters.

While I voted "helped enhance the series as a whole", mainly because I do believe that statement to be true, there were many lost opportunities to tell the story of Star Fleet's early years. What we got to see in Season 4 we should have gotten right from Season 1.

I voted for Indifferent merely because after DS9, which wasn't a horrible series but had the problem of being shuffled around in the schedule so much I know many people just gave up eventually.

Then Voyager came.

THAT series' utter crapness killed off most of the rest of the fanbase.

Enterprise would have had to have been the most exquisitely crafted science fiction epic ever to have even managed to lift Trek's reputation from the doldrums.

As it was Bermaga in charge once more, that was surely not going to be the case.

Consider the obtuse reliance on T&A. How they thoroughly wrecked the Vulcans' image. The poorly designed ship. The poorly designed sets. The poorly thought out characters. The...it goes on.

Sure, there were good 'moments' but the series as a whole if you had to average things out was pretty lousy.

Still it was better than Voyager....

But not good enough.

TOS had plenty of T&A, no one complained.

How they thoroughly wrecked the Vulcans' image.
I kinda liked the 22nd century Vulcans, and their attitude was explained in S4

The poorly designed ship.
Well it was the Akira class knock off, but I wouldn't call it bad...

The poorly designed sets.
Hardly...

The poorly thought out characters.
They might not have been thoroughly developed, but they were conceived nicely. All of them... Except for Travis, he sucked.

Way better than Voyager!

But not good enough.

It killed it. They didn't even consider changing the production values. The pilot had barely any music in it at all. The dark clostrophobic submarine atmosphere wasn't helping at all. It looked like a watered down BBC production. The special effects were better but that didn't save it. And Manny Coto? Now there's a guy who could write just anything.

Actually, Dennis McCarthy's soundtrack was pretty good.

The dark claustrophobic submarine atmosphere wasn't helping at all.
Hm, I myself considered it a welcome change in style, after the end of Voyager, that is.

It looked like a watered down BBC production.
And that means... What, exactly?

And Manny Coto? Now there's a guy who could write just anything.
Yep, he's... Versatile. That's one of the things I like about him (don't laugh people, but I loved "Odyssey 5")

For a lot of people I don't think any series that came at this time would have been "good enough" unless they got to cast, write and direct the series. That is what we have come to in the "internet empowered" age. :(

QFT.. In fact, for further proof all you have to do is look at what those same people are now saying about Trek XI.
