Positive. It gave us four greatly enjoyable seasons of Trek.

Not only a better finale, but having two more episodes to reach the magic 100 might have colored the series a little more positively as well. It was the first TREK series in almost forty years to fail to reach 100 episodes or beyond. Couple that with the overall shittiness of "TATV" and almost universally bad reception it got and it didn't help the show's postmortem image

Agreed. I didn't realize it never reached 100 episodes (I didn't pay that much attention to the # of episodes). Did TOS reach 100 episodes? I don't think it did....but then TOS will always have the magic of it being the first, even though quite a few of the episodes were pretty bad in their own right, IMO.
