Impulse Speed Calculator

Warp scale was never linear. TOS scale was something along the lines of v = f^3 * c . So Warp 1 was lightspeed, Warp 2 was four times the speed of light, Warp 3 was nine times... then they shifted it for TNG with Warp 10 being the maximum speed.

Thanks, I thought I'd managed to get my computing degree's algorithmic complexity shit out of my head for the evening.

Wine factor 9, helm.

TMP the Enterprise cruises by Jupiter at .5c and later on when they finished rebalancing warp they are already starting from Warp 0.8.

Where are you getting this .8 warp factor from? I recently rewatched TMP and didn't notice that, and I'm specifically looking for mentions of warp factors less than 1

Just after the asteroid is destroyed:

DECKER: Position report, Navigator?
ILIA: Computing new interception course.
UHURA: Communications are normal, sir.
CHEKOV: Negative damage report, Captain. No casualties reported, Doctor.
McCOY: Wrong, Mister Chekov, there are casualties. My wits! As in 'frightened-out-of', Captain, sir!
DECKER: We're at warp point eight. Engineer, ...report your status there.
SCOTT: In just a second, Exec, we're picking up the pieces down here.
