my problem is that I haven't met anyone, don't know where to meet anyone, and the girls I have met happen to land in the 'friend zone' pretty quickly due to meeting at various church functions . . .

Well, it's been nearly a decade since I've had a date...() but I'm rarely lonely...not with a 10 year old in the house, not with a daily dose of 75 teens, and a dozen close co-workers!

It's not a problem now, but if I'm the same way at this time in 2009, it will definitely become one. As of now though, yeah I do feel lonely but I'm not fretting over it.
