I'm Sick and Feel Like Bitching

Right: Get well!

I too have a cold, and if I find it difficult to breathe again tonight, tomorrow it'll be time to go see the doc.

I don't mind the feeling of being packed inside a giant cotton-ball, I don't mind the runny nose or the fever but I HATE the coughing and gasping for air while doing it :klingon:

I'm like Digits, where I feel guilty and unproductive. I'm missing out on extra credit attendance points in class! Plus the worst part is, I'm sitting here on my ass and I don't even have enough concentration to be studying. I just feel lazy.

I know what you mean. I feel far less guilty when I'm so sick that I can't get out of bed than I do when I can get up but am so fuzzy-brained that I can't call my kids by their correct names.

For what it's worth, taking vitamin C only helps before the onset of a cold. Once you have the cold taking extra vit C is a waste. Have you tried echinacea supplements? They help to boost your immune system.

One advantage of my job is that so many parents and children come to the centre with viruses (even though they shouldn't) the staff members' immune systems have become stronger. I've had less colds and sickness in the past year than I ever have, despite having been exposed to far more bugs.

I wish you a speedy recovery!

I don't know what you are complaining about, I miss up my kids' names even when I am not fuzzy-brained. I even call my sons by the cats' names at times - it sort of goes - "Adam, Chicken, Marcus" until I get the right name out.

 Oh, I do this, too (calling my youngest son by the dog's name is not unusual) but it's far worse when I'm ill. It's a hereditary thing; I have 3 older brothers and my mother was forever calling me HankJoePaulMary.

Get plenty of rest and take plenty of liquids ... Time really is your friend when it comes to recovering from a cold. You know what works for me is Airborne, Zicam, or both; it helps to lessen the duration and severity of the cold. The couple of times I got sick, I took both supplements and didn't feel as miserable as I typically did.

While not ill, my allergies have started kicking up a fuss. Everytime the seasons change, I'm miserable with the coughing, runny nose, etc.

Sometimes makes me wish for a Vader style breathing filter.

Yay! - I had a good nights sleep

I could even breathe through my nose -well, mostly. And today the coughing has subsided substantially; that alone makes me feel positively good!

I sympathize with everyone here who's sick. I came down with con crud (probably just a cold) about a week after Polaris. Then when I was in Atlanta for Dragon*Con, and just starting to feel better, I came down with a second cold that was making me cough up a lung. Not the best way to wake up one's roommates at 4 in the morning after a night of partying. I'm only just starting to get over that one.

I suppose the advantage has been that I haven't really noticed my hay fever acting up this year, except for the first two days of my Atlanta trip. (Then again, the pollen count here has been negligible so far.)

I'm still miserable but I'm all hopped up on codeine which helps, and I was able to plan out a lot of school stuff today (plus do some extra reading). Now I just need to figure out a way to have the nebulizer surgically incorporated into my respiratory system, and I'd be just peachy!

am dealing a lot with the allergies.
wouldnt be so bad except for the cough.. which brings attention to the fact you are unwell plus being very annoying.

could be a lot worse.

I'm pretty down this evening. The hot girl I've been increasing conversation with wasn't at the gym tonight.

^ Hopefully she'll be back. It takes a lot of work to build up courage. :D

I just hope I don't get sick. I can't take decongestants. All I can take is crappy diabetic tussin and maybe a Zinc drop or two.
So far... no, wait, I'm not finishing that sentence. I know what happens when I finish sentences like that!
