IJ: KotCS (Indy movie) out today

Hopefully, I'll be able to rent it today. Unfortunately, I won't be able to buy it until later in the month.

Indy 5 was a lot of fun.

It just arrived in the mail, and I am the first one here to get the official DVD!

Well, time for me to fire up the DVD player and play my 2 disc set.

I haven't ordered this yet. The prices for the Blu-Ray, quite frankly, are ridiculous either side of the Atlantic and are tempting me to just wait for a boxed set of all four films.

I'm holding off renting it until I get a Blu-ray player for our main TV (just waiting on the Sony S550 to become available at Best Buy, which should be before the end of the month.) As far as buying, didn't like it enough to buy on its own, I'll wait until there's a Blu-ray series boxed set.

Well, I loved Indy IV despite some minor flaws, and am about to go out and purchase on my way to work.

I enjoyed the movie at the theater and picked up the 2-disc on the way home today. I'll probably check out Disc 2 over the course of the week and watch the movie on the weekend.

I enjoyed this movie, although it's in fourth place among the movies by far. It sort of had that Die Another Day moment where it became something else in the second half, and even though that's where it was leading, that doesn't mean it was a good thing. That second half seemed too "Lucas-ized," if that's a term.

And the DVD world as a whole replies with a collective "sigh" and goes and Googles "South Park, Spielberg, Lucas."

I enjoyed the film for what it was. People crying that George Lucas raped their childhood on this one need to scale back their expectations a bit--no way was this one as bad as any of the Star Wars prequels.

I'll probably wait until X-Mas to pick up the DVD, though. Pretty busy with classes, and money's tight. Curious about the features, though.

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's that bad. Despite my mentioning of the SP bit I don't think Lucas/Spielberg "raped" anything in this movie. I mean, there was nothin inherently terrible or wrong about it. It just lacked a certain spark and had some silliness to it that didn't fit in even an already pretty fantastical franchise and too much damn CGI.

The stupid oohing/awwwing cartoony gophers, though, borderline on ass-rape.

True, but no matter how it is polished, a turd is still a turd. It would have been better had they not made this movie.

Not to interrupt all the bashing, but I picked up the DVD today. Target has an exclusive that includes a book of set photographs taken by David James. The book is nicely done in hardcover with the DVD holder on the inner front cover. The whole thing slips into an outer case. Very neat.

Apparently those gophers were not all CGI.

I thought it was a decent movie but it felt like someone was tried and failed to make an Indiana Jones movie, not like an Indy movie from Speilberg and Lucas. I'm going to wait for a sale before picking it up.
