If You Were Kirk's Uncle

Omega_Glory

Commodore
What would you have done when the little bastard destroyed your antique Corvette worth a few million Federation credits? I would have knocked the crap outta him, disowned him, and told his mama to get him the hell out of my house.

I would make fun of my Brother since it wasn't my car he wrecked.

End credits identify the character as the Stepdad. The Uncle was cut from the film.

Yes -- Drunkle Frank and the actor who played him were cut from the film...

"Stepdad" was voiced by Abrams' best buddy Greg Grunberg.

If the stepfather was as abusive and drunk as it appeared (even though we only heard his voice), I'd say he deserved to have the car wrecked.

Or would have, had it been his car. It wasn't. It was Kirk's father's. I would expect Mrs. Kirk to be plenty pissed at her son for this. Since the car belonged to her first husband, who is now dead, the car should be hers to do with as she wished. She's the one who has the right to be mad. Abusive fuckwads like the stepfather have no such right.

When Kirk was still a kid? Nothing.

But now that he's a Starship captain, I'd make him pick one up for cheap at one of those 20th Century Earth replica planets that seemed to be scattered everywhere throughout the Galaxy.

Throw my bottle of saurian brandy at him, for if I were Kirks's uncle/step-dad/whoever the hell owned the car I would be a drunk bastard (wearing a wife-beater) and throwing bottles of saurian brandy is the only way I could express myself.

Yes, the novelization makes it clear there are problems between George, Jr., and the stepdad, mostly because of the stepdad. Jim gets along ok with the stepdad, because he's the "good" kid; good behavior and good in school.

Yeah...Jim was really close to George and didn't want to hang around anymore when George, Jr., left home. That's why I wish they had kept George on the road and Johnny out.

"You have to figure out it's motivation. What does it want?" -- "It's a rock! It doesn't have any motivation!"

Ok, I thought it was his father's brother, but stepdad works too. Does the novel specifically say he is a drunk and beats kids/women?

I'll tell ya one thing; if one of my stepkids destroyed my Dodge Challenger, they could not imagine the hell there would be to pay. For the rest of my life, the kid would be paying for it. After all, Kirk showed no respect for whoever owned the vehicle. I couldn't hang with that.

I can't imagine that jerk married to Winona. I always have a hard time with that.

Personally, I'd be more concerned about the sudden appearance of this giant gaping canyon in the middle of Iowa than what to do to the kid who drove the car into it. Where the hell did that thing come from?
