If you could make a wish as to new books.....

My thanks to Kilana2, JD, marlboro, and Mysterion for wishing me back in the fold. From your lips to Simon & Schuster's ears. :)

I'm currently reading the Gorkon novels. The characters are so alive and well written. You brought us the Klingon culture nearer like no one else.
I liked how Goran gave his best in the contest - still being the loser in the end despite a great performance. Klingons usually don't take losing well.
As to Goran's size: I remember the Klingon towering over Worf and Crusher when the latter scanned his shuttle. Goran should also be portrayed by a Basketball player......:D :klingon:

I'd love to see a continuation of the Seekers novels and New Frontier novels. Particularly NF ended in "The Return" with some cliffhangers.

New DTI novels would be welcome. I liked the E-books, but I'd love to see a full size novel. Maybe, assuming the nu-TNG show comes out and spells the end for the relaunch novels, Christopher could write a DTI book somehow tying the relaunches and the nu-TNG show together as some sort of time mishap. Using time travel would probably be just about the only way to tie the current litverse with the nu-TNG show assuming it mothballs the litverse as we know it ;).

It's probably too late at this point but I actually liked the Challenger book that followed the New Earth series. I wouldn't mind seeing a follow up to Commander Keller and the Challenger.

And more Stargazer books picking up where Michael Jan Friedman left off would be welcome---and perhaps even relevant considering the new Picard show coming out. It might be worth exploring the early days of Picard's career again. After all there are years between the last Stargazer book and "The Buried Age", including Jack Crushers time aboard the Stargazer that Friedman's novels never reached.

Something continuing the Kelvin universe. It even those 4 cancelled 2010 novels (even if Into Darkness contradicted them all in some way)
the contradictions could be fixed, as the books have not been published back then, so nothing wrong has happened.

By the way: Nice thread-idea, @Kilana2

My wish:
- Captain Sulu / Excelsior novels
- Bringing The Lost Era & A Time To..... to Germany ;) (and many other untranslated novels)

There certainly is plenty of ground to operate in the Lost Era - we have little about the Cardassian border conflicts, for example. And there’s definitely more that could be done with the Stargazer - the series only covered the earliest days, Jack Crusher didn’t even join the crew by the time of the last one. Plus more about the Enterprise-B and C would always be nice, considering that there are times they feel like the forgotten Enterprises.

Still plenty of room for more Rise of the Federation, too. Plus some more pre-Talos Pike Enterprise stories. And more Seekers, definitely. And I’ll add my voice to the choir asking for another KRAD novel.

I’d also like the DS9 novels to be handled more like the early days of the Avatar and on books, where there were multiple authors adding to the ongoing story. DRG3 isn’t bad, by any stretch, but he’s had this very meandering style in the novels featuring DS9 from Plagues of Night all the way through at least Ascendance, where the novels are long, but it feels like a lot of wheel-spinning, going “that thing that happened, it happened, it’ll be important, that thing, so we’ll talk about that thing that happened, until another thing happens.” The Long Mirage was so refreshing because it felt like forward momentum. It almost felt like a new author had come in.

Above all, I would like to see at least the occasional in-series novel for the non-TOS Trek. Sometimes I just want the familiarity of the ship and crew I grew up with on a new adventure.

Unfortunately they just translated the first two Seekers novels and stopped due to low sales numbers. I liked the two Seekers books but more Seekers novels won't lead to a German translation! Says someone who is able to read the original ones.

I'd like to see more of Prynn Tenmei again. She was one of the most interesting new DS9 characters introduced after the show ended onscreen. In whatever function or appearance. A return of Shar would also be appreciated.
Can't warm myself to characters like Stinson.

I want to see more Deep space nine novels and Enterprise Rise of the Federation books being publshed. Also the spinoff Seeker book series of books with Vanguard characters I really enjoyed reading those books . And more Stargazer books please. And a new KRAD book would be fantastic too.

Forged in Fire is an Excelsior novel. You have to ask Cross Cult if they would translate it. I fear they will not. They even cancelled DS9 The Neverending Sacrifice, one of the best Trek novels ever.

I recall some of the authors suggesting Into Darkness conflicted with their stories pretty badly, so I imagine they'd have to be quite heavily rewritten. But it was a long time ago and I doubt it'll ever happen.

Let's see what @KRAD thinks about that. You could also post it in the Picture the Novelverse thread....;)

Oh, I think he mentioned he based the character on Andre in the afterword of one of the books. I had picked up on it already though.

We need a short story featuring Goran working for Grand Nagus Zek so we can get a Princess Bride reunion.

Back when they first announced that the novels were starting back up and had access to the Kelvinverse, David Mack hinted that there might be something happening with his book, but he hasn't said anything else since then.

Sorry to hear that. The Seeker novels were pretty good reads. But in all honesty I think those are finished. I think probably too much time has passed since the last book.

You realize that anything we say here, if it's specific enough to be construed as a STORY IDEA, can be used against itself.

That said, I would not mind finding out what happens to Diane Carey's Piper. Sure, she was Carey's mouthpiece for hard-Libertarian rhetoric, but I always found her to be a fun character.

I don't think anything in this thread looks like a legitimate "story idea." I think it would need to rise above "I'd like to see a sequel to this" or "hey, what if Darth Vader fought the 6 Million Dollar Man?" before it became an issue.

Yeah, I agree. Certainly saying you'd like to see another New Frontier novel for instance isn't a story idea, or even a sequel to another story, or saying you'd like to see a story with a character like Jack Crusher.

I think dangerous territory would be something like saying "I'd like to see this character do this thing because of this happening on a planet that reminds them of this past event".
