If Star Trek the Animated Series was made for TNG

I mean, it's perfect. Everyone has that slight Filmation smile. The eye movements as responses. The zooms to get the mouths out of frame. The Enterprise beaming sound for everyone. The stock movements. All you needed was one of the regular cast standing in for O'Brien because they didn't have the budget for everyone. :guffaw:And the Kzinti crewmember instead of Wesley!!!
 
Makes me wonder though, why hasn't a NG animated series set after NEM been put on the table. Did that story drive all the characters away from the Ent and each other. There has to be something more to tell there.

I imagine Stewart and Spiner would've been too expensive for such a project. I think the big thing is that Paramount simply wasn't interested in doing animation with their flagship product. See: Star Trek: Final Frontier.

I seem to recall that Rick Berman didn't have a very high opinion of animation and he felt that an animated TNG show would cheapen the franchise somehow.
