Show me anyplace that anyone seriously said that recasting Kirk (or Spock or anyone else) would be EASY.Beyerstein said:Then why didn't they find one yet?

I think they might have picked kirk, but they're waiting until 08 to announce it.

Who said he could be easily recast?

Didn't you hear? They've cast Jeffrey Combes as Kirk! And James Cromwell is actually going to be playing McCoy! And they're going to have Micheal Dorn play Scotty (in a new Klingon makeup that's not QUITE the same as the one he wore on TNG).UWC Defiance said:If one is used to modern Trek movies, seeing the producers put extra effort into getting things like casting exactly right is probably a little unfamiliar.![]()

The thing about casting Trek is how do you possibly top or even match the cast of The Original Series…and that is really where this film takes place. William Shatner…I have met him a number of times and he is the greatest. We are desperately trying to find a way to put him in this movie. The truth is: it needs to be worthy of him – it needs to be worthy of you – it needs to be worthy to the movie. We cannot just shove him in. It would be a disaster. You would hate it, he wouldn’t like it…it would be bad. So we are on that. And we are looking for a Kirk, cause that’s tough too. So Kirks?…any ideas for Kirks? We are taking Kirk names.
