If Buffy the Vampire Slayer is rebooted and Willow is in the series, should she Dark Willow again at some point?

IIRC, his reaction when Charisma came into his office and happily told him she was pregnant, was anger. He asked her if she was going to keep the baby or have an abortion, and he wondered out loud how it was going to affect his show. Not a shred of empathy or happiness for her. Then we got that horrifying storyline with Connor knocking her up, and Whedon fired her as soon as he could afterward.

It did feel like character assignation with her hooking up with Connor. It is kind of amazing though that they at least did bring her back for one episode in the final season to basically give the character a proper goodbye. I think Whedon might have even regretted that he let his pettiness have a negative creative impact on one of his shows so he tried to walk it back to a degree. Not only was Cordy not back as a regular but Connor was gone as well, though he also came back for a few episodes towards the end.

I believe the expectation was that Cordelia had been magically manipulated somehow. Regardless it was icky.

If Forbin is correct, then Wheadon's behavior was beyond petty. Add to that the allegations around the Buffy set, and Sarah Michelle Geller and Alyson Hannigan's demeanor when questioned about Buffy and that's more than a few sparks. I don't think I ever heard if there was any basis for the Michelle Trachtenberg or Eliza Dushku rumors--but when the man has reportedly had problems with practically every woman working as a lead on his shows then that's more than just pettiness.

We know he had issues with James Marsters as well but it seems like he was close to Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof. Especially Denisof who we know he used again on Avengers and Dollhouse. Tom Lenk, J August RIchards and Amy Acker have worked with again as well. What's weird is from what I can tell their was no issues with Firefly so I don't know what that means other maybe he just liked those people better. Granted one difference is Firefly had a older cast in general with more experience who probably have delt with their share ego assholes in other jobs, were as he was basically working with kids on Buffy.

20th century Fox owns the IP.

They can hire Woody Allen to produce a buffy reboot, if they want to go in another direction.

Somehow I don't think that would fly.

A nervous, but worldly balding Jewish intellectual, over the course of a decade marries and divorces sequentially Joyce, Dawn, and Buffy while stopping intermittent appocoli?

Actually I saw advertising last night, on a VHS from the 80s, with Joyce in it claiming that she was so beautiful that every in the world had to stop and ask her which hair conditioner she was using.

At this point, I think a spiritual successor would work better.
A female Vampire Slayer isn't that unique anymore.

I do think a male slayer would be a interesting idea. Though it would be set in a world were their is no more, one slayer at a time. I kind of like the idea of, what if a brother and sister were both slayers and they had to keep it a secret from their Mom and Dad while working with their Watcher and going to High School in Cleveland were we know their is another Hellmouth.

Teen Wolf is male Buffy. (6 seasons and a movie!!!)

I was introducing season one to my wife a month a go... "That's Spike, and That's Xander, and that's Cordelia and Holy shit a jock that reveals hidden gayness after a season or three: Teen Wolf has a Larry!!!!"

Warrior Nun is Female Buffy again.

The comics started in 1995.

The only thing I ever heard about him and Michelle Trachtenberg was that he was never allowed to be in a room alone with her, which usually means that he's given people a reason not to trust him.

Guy is right about both Teen Wolf and Warrior Nun.

A "Buffy" remake would not have a male lead--it may have a trans or non-binary lead, however.

It wouldn't be a a Buffy remake. A Buffy remake without Buffy I don't even think makes all that much sense. It would be more of another show set in that show's(Angel as well) continuity. Frankly it all sounds like a bad idea without Whedon but if they do a new show they should for the most part avoid any of the old characters as much as possible. Maybe later on they can bring back Willow or something but not at first.

I'm still mad we never got the Ripper show, that could have been great.

What about the 23rd century Slayer "Fray"?

I also wish we had gotten a Ripper show. As for "Fray" that would be interesting but I am curious. How much impact did Whedon have on creating that comic? I

Not just Whedon, the rules are that nobody is allowed to be alone with a minor in a room
