Spoilers IDW Star Trek - New Visions - John Byrne

Ah thank you. You'd think "john byne" theela andorian into Google might have found that the other evening? Mostly I was getting hits with reviews, news and excerpts of "Frontier Doctor".

I searched for "Byrne Robotics Star Trek Theela" and that brought me mostly results from his site. And it helped that I knew it was in that particular thread. :)

I've not seen much of these photonovels, but they do seem kind of interesting. I will consider taking a look at them.

The latest "photoplay" came out this week.

Resistance aka the Borg story.

Spock's ultimate weapon against the Borg is effective, to say the least.

In the Byrneverse, Spock = Reed Richards.

Was there any reference in the recent story featuring Number One to this being in continuity with her other appearances in Byrne's work? I know she commands the Yorktown like in the Romulans series, but anything else?

The way I understood that, the crossover simply consists of the Gold Key style 'Star Trek' logo, and the weird transporter room set that was commonly used in the Gold Key comics. Though I may be wrong. But I'm not sure what more a Gold Key crossover could consist of.

^Read Spock's voice balloon: "Welcome back, Captain! Thank the Nine Spheres we were able to get you out of there!" Also, Spock's ear points are angled backward instead of forward. I'd say it's going to be a full-on Gold Key crazyverse.

Writing style maybe, or setting feel? Spider-Verse managed to balance tons of Spider-Men from different alternate incarnations and keep them feeling distinct even when the only differences between characters were the tones of their universes.

Edit: Okay, so not knowing Gold Key that well, this probably is going to be the equivalent of 616 Spider-Man meeting 1967 animated Spider-Man, Christopher?

I haven't read Spider-Verse, nor have I read more than the first page of the Byrne story, so I can't say for sure.

Well having read the first story it feels like Star Trek as a 50s B Sci-Fi affair.

If Byrne includes blond Scotty and Rand's red cap, I will take back everything bad I ever said about him.

The white skunk-like streak in her hair as she ages. ;)

Has she ever had a name in the Byrne series?

No, Byrne has been careful to avoid naming characters who were nameless in TOS, specifically Number One and the Romulan Commander from "Balance of Terror." (Though Memory Beta gives the misleading impression that Byrne used the name "Keras" from the card game -- "Sarek" spelled backward, ludicrously enough -- when in fact he did not.)

Has she ever had a name in the Byrne series?
"Commodore Robbins," in his Romulans: Schism series, though it wasn't directly used in the recent New Visions story.

No. If Memory Beta is claiming that, then they're conflating information from separate sources again. I just looked through Schisms, and the name "Robbins" is never used. The character is never addressed as anything but "Commodore." She even introduces herself to an enemy captain as merely "the commander of the U.S.S. Yorktown." When held prisoner, she pledges to give only her name, rank, and serial number, but is never actually shown giving any of them.

^ Wait, really? I don't remember Byrne using a name for her in any of his works. I may need to reread Schism.

And that's the same last name that Early Voyages coined, right?

EDIT: Oops, nevermind. My arrow was supposed to point at Leto II's post, but Christopher posted while I was typing (and answered the questions, too!)
