Without spoiling Beyond for me, is it likely that Krall will get an IDW villain backstory comic as Nero and Khan did?

Hard to say. It seems IDW might be moving away from the Kelvin Timeline, given the lack of a Countdown comic and the end of the Ongoing series.
However, if there is one, it'd make sense to sync it with the home video release, which has a few months to go.
Any series about Krall would have to be incredibly spoilery (more so than Nero, but to about the same degree as Khan), so it makes sense they didn't release it before the threatre premiere.

Nero and Khan's serieses both began coming out after their respective films.

I also would think this would be a no-brainer for a mini series idea, but nothing looks forthcoming. They also kind of bungled the lead in. If they weren't going to go with a "Countdown to Beyond" they should have made the Legacy of Spock run be the miniseries and leave the Klingon miniseries as simply part of the Ongoing run.
I think the main reason we didn't get a Countdown to Beyond comic has to do with the fact that Orci wasn't involved in this movie and is moving on from the comics in general. That said, I see no reason we can't eventually have a Krall backstory comic.
Hey, Laura. I know you're a fan of the Kelvinverse. I'd suggest you watch the movie ASAP (if that's possible). There are more than a few spoilable moments that you'd probably enjoy seeing in theaters than accidentally blurted out here. Or running into on MA or one of the many newssites.
But yeah, Krall does have a backstory, one that I'd be very, very interested in seeing explored in future material.

Besides, it's probably good that you didn't use the spoiler tag like me, since that way OP was (hopefully) warned.
I try to avoid the spoiler info as much as possible. MA is very kind to put up big warning banners at the tops of the pages.
Have watched Beyond now. I think maybe Manifest Destiny was supposed to be the "countdown" in a way.
In what way? Manifest Destiny has less to do with Beyond than Countdown to Darkness had to do with STID.
