Ick bin so betrunken! I'm drunk for the first time in my life.

:shifty: Oh god, this is so embarrassing. Why did I think that it was a good idea to write all of this? I'm sorry. But I want to thank everyone who responded with something nice or a useful advice. That's what I was talking about in the second paragraph of my original post. :)

Beautiful. We loves ya, ya big king of the avatars lug.
Thanks, Philo. I love you, too. You're certainly one of the nicest guys around here.

Hmph! Let Bonz pin and unpin your threads from now on. :D
:( Sorry, Mal. Of course I love you, too. And you're not the only one who I forgot to mention.

At least now you know that booze doesn't help. But what have you done to romance this woman? Has she actually rejected you, or are you just worshiping her from afar?
Yeah, it really didn't help that much. I just thought it would help me not to think about it. I know her from one of my courses and pretty much fell in love with her after our first conversation. She's very geeky, just like me. That's something I don't find very often where I live (unfortunately). She really seems to like me. But yesterday I invited her to my new apartment and while we were talking I realized that she just doesn't have any romantic interest in me. Somehow that was crystal-clear. And while this wasn't the first time in my life that I was rejected by a girl, it certainly made me very sad. I guess the problem is that I had too much hope and already had stupid fantasies of us being together. The usual stuff I suppose. And for the first time in my life I thought, why not get drunk. I had a bottle of wine which was a left over from the house-warming party. So I emptied it, but I just went dizzy, couldn't walk straight and couldn't talk without babbling. I think I also got very emotional. But never did I stop to actually think about her. That's a little disappointing actually. How much would you say does one have to drink (and what) until he isn't really oneself anymore?

I hope your first hang-over doesn't hit you too hard, NCC-1701!

I usually feel depressed for a couple of days after a heavy drinking session and that's when I've been in a good mood beforehand. I'd hate to find out what I'd be like after drowning my sorrows.

I'm afraid on the subject of women I have only this to say:
"I would be delighted to offer any advice I can on understanding women. When I have some, I’ll let you know." - Jean Luc Picard
;)
Thanks for the nice words and the wonderful Picard quote, Andrew. And I think I'm just experiencing what you described above. I don't really feel better now. It's rather the contrary.

Try drinking good wine next time. Possibly Italian. ;)
How would I know it is good? Because of the price?

Out of interest how old are you for you first boozing session?
I'm 25 years old. Yeah, I'm pretty late. :shifty:

^I've never been drunk either and I'm older than you.
I really think that's admirable. Actually it makes me kind of sad that I did it. I'd rather be like you.

Don't get me wrong, I do drink, I just don't do it to excess. I enjoy a nice beer because it tastes nice and it's cold.
Ah, okay. I don't want to be like you then. :p ;) No, personally I just hate the taste (or rather the smell as I haven't tasted any alcohol besides the wine last night) of alcohol, including beer. It always reminds me of my father who had a problem with alcohol when I was younger. But I digress.

It's probably the best introduction he can have... If my first drinks hadn't been mind-blowingly spectacular, I wouldn't be as enamoured of the stuff as I am now... it was like a couple of years before I had my first hangover, and I was already hooked by then... too late, damn!

Not seeing a problem here

I was 11 the first time I remember feeling tipsy, although I didn't get fall down drunk until I was at least 14.
I don't remember myself, I know it was at a New Year party, probably around the same age I reckon. But I didn't have a hang over or puke from drink until I was 17 or 18.

Personally I prefer Paracetamol and pasta carbonara -though McGreaseburgers are a close second.
Errr, do you eat pasta alla carbonara to fight the effects of an hangover? The one with egg, bacon, pecorino cheese and lots of pepper? You guys are hardcore!!!

And cream, but; parmesan cheese -lots of it.

Don't know about pepper though, I love freshly ground black pepper -and lots of it- so that is the way I make it too :bolian:

The thing is that it's greasy and salty and you don't have to chew it a lot, actually, most (if not all) pasta dishes are brilliant hangover-food. :bolian:

I have yet to find anything (if it exists) that clenches thirst better than a cold pilsener. (Too bad you also need liquids when drinking beer)

Cream is an acceptable addition, it makes the sauce smoother and delicate. Parmesan, meh. You should try pecorino, really, if you can find it in your hometown. I'm sure you'll like it. Freshly ground black pepper is spot on. Damn, now I'm hungry!

^Alcohol is the last thing you'd want to drink if you were actually thirsty.

Indeed, and absolutely correct.

But a cool pils is still a fantastic thirst-clencher. -You'll just have to also think of your bodily needs and drink lots (more actually, b/c of the alcohol) of liquids (didn't I write that in that other post? -oh yes; seems I did ;) )

__________
Edit:
Pecorino substituting parmesan in carbonara? - I kinda like the way the bacon and the parmesan suit each other -but I'll have to try that! -Know what? -I'll try making it for my sister, she's a carbonara fan as well! (No, it's not just hangover-food!)

Why? There's more than enough water in beer to offset the any dehydrating effects of the alcohol, unless you're having a heavy session.

Offset it, sure, but you're better off drinking water.
You're better off drinking water over lots of things, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll quench you're thirst any better than any other beverage.

This sounds delish- I have to try it! Second on the pecorino cheese. I love that melted on toast with truffle honey and apples. mmmm....
