MadBoggins,

I'm sorry to say but I stopped reading when you said this:

The thing is, a few months ago I was a gnostic and wouldn't have cared if she was a Christian, a jew or even a Satanist. But late last year my friend Karissa started sending me links to Richard Dawkings videos on YouTube and they changed my LIFE. Even though at first I thought he was just a jerk I came to find that the truths he spoked were undeniable and that all Christians are seriously deluded.

(Bold is my emphasis)

I was going to advise you to just let her believe what she wants if she is a nice person. Then you said that and I got offended. Someone's religion shouldn't be the only thing you judge in terms of if that person is right for you. It's her values, or way of life, what she does and all that stuff. To make that sweeping generalization makes you come off as an arrogant Jerk and she shouldn't waste time with you. Now if you don't believe it, than fine, that's good, but all too often I read so many sweeping generalizations about someone's religion and it's getting damn annoying. If religion is the only thing you use to judge someone, than you have issues sir.

Just about everyone has at least one deal breaker. He's fat. She's a smoker. He's a wimp. She's a taxidermist. He plays the French Horn. She's ugly... whatever.

It's all well and good to say those people have issues, but are we not allowed to select the qualities we find desirable and reject those we find unattractive?

Depends on the qualities. Is she/he hurting you by saying what her religion is? If yes, than I do think you have issues if you liked her before but not now because of that one thing. It seemed like they were getting it off fine, until the OP found out she was a christian. If I was in the girls position and someone did that to me, I would be upset and break off the relationship myself because the guy turned into a total douche.

I've gotten on fine with several girls until I whipped out my... pack of cigarettes. Some didn't have a problem. Some would do the old polite, "I'd better get going soon. Nice meeting you!" A few blunt/honest ones even said straight up, "I don't date smokers."

That's ONE thing. Do they have a problem? Or do they just not want to be with a smoker?

So his ONE quality of being a douche would be enough?

There are plenty of religions/beliefs that would be a deal breaker for me. You have to respect the person you're with. If you really can't find it in you to respect their beliefs even if you don't share them then you better get out now because that lack of respect is going to erode your relationship.

I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with someone who though I was deluded.
