I think I deciphered what went wrong with new Star Trek. Rushing it to be Ronald D. Moore-esque.

Maurice Hurley was angry because Roddenberry rewrote the script to "Hide And Q" without giving Hurley a chance to rewrite it himself to get it closer to Roddenberry's vision. He said that's not the way you treat your writing staff so he took his name off it.

The irony is that Tracy Torme did the same thing when Hurley rewrote "The Royale" and "Manhunt".

That's unfair as I've been debunking the whole "GR's Vision" nonsense since the early TNG days when it really started getting traction with TNG fandom as they decried how 'old' and 'out of date' TOS was, and to debunk the idea that NBC Excess 'hated' the idea of a lead female character, when on fact they were okay with it as long as GR's mistress wasn't cast in the role.
