i'm an all or nothing guy. after shaving damn near every day for 9 years in the navy, i got out and let it grow a bit. i shave maybe once a month. scruffiness is pretty sexy if you can pull it off mang.

I think the version in the "beard at New years" pic is best. Neat, trimmed beard. I rock it as well, so I know what I speak off.

Just never mind the hair in that one. Was constantly scuffing it against the roof in dads Prius I was driving there. Yes that is the chair in the lowest setting.

I started in 8th grade...however old that is.
Another option is to do what I did, which is no shaving and no haircut for 8 months, then trim it all back down to the beginning just a few days ago. Quite a transformation if you have 8 months to spare.
I do that, trim it down mid-may to a half inch long, touch up in august on the sides, the let 'er grow till mid-may again. Except, the few whiskers on my chin and upper lip get bent out of shape, itchy, and sore, so I trim them every week or so.
