I prefered Nemesis

It just seems to me that a lot of Trek fans would be bitching and moaning about things if this film wasn't a commercial hit.
Really? That's odd to you? We'd be bitching about a hypothetically crappy movie...like Nemesis?

I don't think it's all that hard to wrap your mind around. Fortunately, the movie is a commercial and critical success so it's irrelevant.

Sovereign and Tentacle I don't care that you did not like the film, or thought it sucked. Where you show your immaturity is in assuming those that did like it are somehow "wrong" or sheep or liking it because it is cool. Doesn't IDIC cover different tastes?

I absolutely hated some movies that were very loved: Serenity. The Dark Knight. Transformers. Hated every one of them. Could write long posts about why they sucked in my super humble opinion. But I don't think the people that loved these movies are WRONG, stupid, sheep or have the intellect of preschoolers. They just have different tastes than me and different things push their buttons.

We're all different. Diverse. Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations.

Your posts lack graciousness. You seem to enjoy bashing other people who liked what you dislike. This is kind of disturbing.

Right. Sorry pal, but you're just on the other side of the coin now. For 7 years many "fans" suggested that people like me lack an appreciation of "real" Star Trek because Nemesis is one of my favorite films.

So some fans hurt you once and now you want to hurt them back?

Borgminister, you are right about Nemesis. This would have been an okay average TV episode.

The worst thing was the irrevocable death of Data. It also seemed a lame attempt to be "Dark and Edgy"(that was coming into vogue).

STXI? It wasn't perfect but it was a watchable and easy to follow movie. They did bring back the true ensemble where every character got a chance to shine and then some. Uhura wasn't reduced to saying, "Hailing frequencies open". Sulu and Chekhov got a chance to strut their stuff by not being chained to the helm or quoting the Great Soviet Encyclopedia.:rommie: What about the bad guy, Nero? Well, maybe future Romulans and Vulcans will have more variety in their hairstyles.

BTW someone said there were scenes on the cutting room floor that could have upgraded Nemesis. What did they contain? Are they on any DVD?

The region 2 has a few of the cut scenes, dont know about region 1 or elsewhere. Its character scenes - discussions about having a duplicate between Data and Picard, the crew actually dealing with Data's death for more than 3 seconds etc. Basically its stuff that would have given the film some actual depth.

With the cut scenes Shinzon stops being an excuse to give Picard his own Khan, and is instead a commentary about what happens when you find out you arent as unique as you thought.

But you know, thought provoking scenes arent as important to the movie as watching Picard drive a dune buggy.

Your last point about the dune buggy...This was another issue with Nemesis. Capt. Picard was not the sort to have a mid life crisis. That was a detraction from the film.

I was also hoping for further development of the Romulans in Nemesis. The ST franchise gave and gives a lot of care to the devepment of the Klingons, Cardassians, and the Borg. I won't say they have been terrible to these poor cousins of the Vulcans, just inconsistent with them.:rommie:

Of course there were many actors such as Mark Leonard, Andreas Katsulas, James Sloyan, and Stephen McHattie who did fine turns.

I loved the Romulans in DS9. With Nemesis the Reman thing frustrated me, why not just tell a story about Romulans instead of inventing these oppressed cousins?

When I saw it in the movies the way the Senate died was very very cool... and I was like, WOW this is going to be great. But that was kind of the end of greatness.

If I seem to enjoy bashing people, its because I'm feed up with some of those 1 liner post from the cheerleader crow of the moving bashing those that voice a different opinion. Or maybe you ignore them because you are not on the receiving end of those?

I have state it before I'll say it again, I have read alot of well thought and concert posts about why this new movie sucked. And yet so far all the pro movie people can come up with is slogans. The only real depth that the pro people have stated is in one of the earlier thread, about the opening of the movie. How It was well done, and I agree with.(And I believe you were part of that discussion). Now if more of your cheerleaders have more intellgent things to say than, simple its doing so well, all the critics love it therefore I must follow them. (did I hear the sound of a sheep?) Then maybe we wouldnt be so sarcastic and look down out noses at you.

There have been many long intelligent posts about why people liked it Tentacle, just look at the Grading thread.

However I really don't think if we took all the long posts that evidenced intelligence about this movie and posted them here you would cease your name calling. You enjoy it too much.
