I never got into DS9, what to watch?

I would of course of seen more eps than I mentioned its just as I only had terrestrial tv as a kid they never tended to repeat much.

I also remember watcing the finale and a few mirror universe episodes and a few with Luxwanna Troi, and vaguely remember one about Quarks mother but as its been over 15 years cant remember much about them.

I didnt hate the early eps as a kid but preferred exploration and ship battles like in TNG which was the best Star Trek for me (TOS movies beat it though for me) I just disliked when it was set to one place like a bomb being planted and they question everyone as not much happens, I like stories that last more than 1 ep(which is why for example I like Classic Dr Who) but hate a style like new Dr Who where its self contained bar a few small references)

I do remember liking the Dominion as a kid as it gave conflict, for me I like the traditonal ST villians like the Romulans and Klingons almost as much and Cardassians third.

I don't think you'll regret watching the entire series from start to finish. DS9 is the only Star Trek series where pretty much every season is good. Even Season 1 has quite a few great episodes. TOS faltered in its final season, TNG took a few years to get its legs and its last season was poor, Voyager was hit and miss throughout and (IMO) Enterprise was a mess from start to finish. I think you'll find DS9 keeps on getting better and better each season and it was already pretty good to begin with.

It really sounds like Deep Space Nine is the show for you. I'd argue that DS9 really embodies the exploritory spirit of Star Trek. Rather than see a new variation on a forehead week in and week out, you're given a few races (Cardassian, Ferengi, Bajoran, Dominion, Klingon and maybe Trill to a lesser extent) and you explore their cultures in an intimate sense.

As for as space battles go, DS9 has the best in Star Trek bar none. Not really much discussion there.

You like stories that last more than one episode? DS9 has stories that last over seasons. TNG might have the two parter, but usually after the two parter, the story would be over and the next episode wouldn't mention the previous episode at all. Sure, stuff would come back, but not to the degree as DS9.

Give it a shot!

Skip alot of season 1 and 2, I honestly think DS9 is a rather bipolar series with a whole lot of crap floating around, with true works of art.

In contrast to voyager which was always superficially good however left almost nothing regarding depth.

The more episodic episodes for me were significantly behind the better arc episodes. Of course alot of stand alone episodes had some really good character development.

Another vote to watch the series as a whole. Lots of arcs going on.
Totally underrated series, DS9. It's great Trek.
