I Need this movie-now

I Have to admit, it's been an exceptionally bad week.
What is it, something in the water? Sucky week for me, too. :p+:scream:+:(

But here's an even better antidote: BSG. No matter how bad your life is, those people have it worse. :rommie:

something tells me if it's a hit, you'll probably get more movies, not a TV series.

That much is certain.

Or both?

Successful franchises are generally milked to the hilt, yeah. I think we can depend on capitalism to do its usual thing eventually. And Star Trek really belongs on TV - the movies have never been anything more than added bonus.

I Have to admit, it's been an exceptionally bad week. I would just like to share, the sooner this movie comes out the better. As pathetic as it seems, it is one of the things which is keeping me sane.

I can't wait for this movie-maybe someone can get me into an advance screening-REALLY advanced! OK-pobably not, but if anyone could use it it would be me.

MRE

While you wait, another Trek remake to tide you over:

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::lol::lol::lol:

Now I would definitely pay $8.50 to see THAT!

:rommie::rommie::rommie:

Was that Jack Black as a Klingon? SHEER GENIUS!!!!

* I say we put Leslie Moonves in a red shirt and have him beam down to the planet with Kirk. He's then turned into a cube and then crushed by the alien of the week. Then after that we can get on with doing a new Star Trek series that takes place after the new movie or something like that. *
:devil:I like the way you think!:evil:

About the possibility of a new series.....

You know back in the day when all of the Star Trek franchise was owned by one owner it'd be a no-brainer for TPTB to pour insane money down the tubes for a new series after a successful movie or series of movies.

TMP more or less lead Paramount down the path towards TNG, putting Gene in charge of it no less.

However, now that Star Trek has two parents, Paramount on the film side and CBS inc. on the TV side, it's highly unlikely that a new series will come down the pike any time soon.

Why ? Two words Leslie Moonves.

You see old Leslie Moonves hates all of Sci-Fi, especialy Star Trek, and seeing as he's The big boss, The head honcho, The number one guy, The C.E.O. at CBS inc. Can you say "Snowballs Chance In Heck ?"

So unless Leslie Moonves has a change of heart, or dies and that in turn puts someone else in charge of CBS inc. who isn't so close minded about doing Sci-Fi on thier network, it's not going to happen.

Even if the new movie made one trillion bucks, Leslie Moonves won't put the bucks toward a new Star Trek series, he'd rather just make money by selling the old shows to syndication and just leave it at that.

So unless you know something I don't ( Namely Leslie Moonves giving a poop about Star Trek ) I don't see a new series happening again in any of our lifetimes. ( Well, those of us over 40 anyway )

Now you see I have NEVER understood why moonves HATE'S SCI-FI?:vulcan: I mean it's not like a sci-fi tv show magicaly came to life, jumped out of the t.v. screen and assaulted him when he was a child or anything! Does any body here on the boards have a backstory on this idiot and his irrational hatered on all thing SCI-FI?:wtf:

Chick flicks never harmed me when I was a child and they are detested by me to no ends. Sometimes people just hate stuff out of the blue. Though nothing is more hateful than an unwavering TOS Trek fan. :p

Didn't you read the story I posted about Sumner Redstone possibly selling off CBS Paramount because of a cash=flow problem? It's right here.:vulcan::cardie::rolleyes:

If CBS is no longer involved with Paramount, that means somebody who likes science fiction might be heading what's left of Paramount Television, and so, there might be Star Trek on TV. Also, Frakes and the rest of the TNG cast want to come back, so that might be a possibility of happening, too. Not to mention the possibility of animated Trek projects or other spinoffs due to the success of the movie. So don't be so pessimistic.

Two things:

1) That thread was posted more than two months ago, and in a different forum which may not be frequented by the posters reading threads here.

2) The smug "didn't you read"/rolleyes bit is further undercut by the fact that you've provided a link which returns an error message.

If you're here to inform, by all means do so, but the condescending attitude and bad URL don't help your purpose much.

I think that this may be what you meant to link:
