I like the new design but it in no way for me beats the Constitution Refit.
...but seriously, in action, it is apparent what ILM was going for. You can see the surface detailing and lighting detail on the nacelles, as well at the actuating rear intercooler (TOS nomenclature) "flares" and other moving components.
Knowing the new scale of the ship at over 750m long, the nacelles make more sense.
There's a problem with the whole ship being '750m long'.
Watch the film again and you can see the ship above Kirk when he goes to the ship yard. No way is that ship Galaxy class size or bigger. Also, when we see the Ent in space for the first time and the shuttle docks. Again, no way is it that big.
Slightly bigger than the Original/Refit yes.
I don't care what the designers say. What's on screen says a competley different story.
Btw, i was not attacking you. Sorry if my post comes off like that.
No offense taken- we're here to have fun
Here's another thread dedicated to the nuEnt size issue-

The diagram here is purportedly from Bad Robot, the production company for the movie-

Yes, the Galactica is the wrong size, so BSG geeks please restrain yourselves![]()
Well, when I first saw the leaked shots of the new Enterprise, I was 50/50 with it, undecided if I liked it or hated it.
Keep in mind my favorite Trek ship is the Refit Galaxy Class from "AGT" (yes people, the one with the phaser cannon and 3 nacelles) followed very closely by the regular Galaxy class (in turn followed closely in a tie between Excelsior and Refit Constitution class
)
I just saw the movie yesterday, and well, the ship design won me over. Watching it fly around with those huge ass nacelles just looks......right for some reason
And I've been reading the thread about the ship sizes, and well, if it's bigger than a Galaxy class ship I can accept that. We know bigger doesn't always mean better or more powerful.
ONE OF US!I did not care for it at first either. Especially those huge honking warp nacelles. Now it's on my desktop right now. It grows on you.![]()

check back for June issue on the Internet around June 15"the updated firearm still boasts both 'stun' and 'kill' settings; now, however, the two settings are visually differentiated with the press of a thumb switch that physically flips the barrel 180 degrees."
