I miss TOS

So I'm doing my franchise marathon, I just finished TNG's Chain of Command II and just saw DS9's Emissary (I'm watching them in chronological order).

But a big part of me wants to put on TOS or Star Trek TMP, or something TOS related.

Now don't get me wrong.

I'm REALLY, REALLY enjoying TNG, and I just enjoyed the hell out of DS9's Emissary.

But I don't want to, I feel like I'm reading a huge book and going back to TOS right now would be like going back to Chapter 1.

Does that ever happen to you guys watching the newer shows or doing franchise marathons?

TOS is my all time favourite series. And while I don't watch it near religiously like I did quite some time ago and while also enjoying other things over the years every so often I feel a pang of nostalgia. Very few shows over the years have clicked for me like TOS or at least not in the same way.

Although there were mistakes TOS just worked on so many levels. It was a game changer as evidenced by how it appealed to so many and grew in popularity particularly after it ceased production.

When you watched it initially, was it with new effects or original? Just watch the opposite of what you saw before. That's not cheating!

What I really miss is when the 79 episodes was all the Trek that existed onscreen. I'm talking early 70s. Reruns. Every weekday afternoon at 4:00. A seemingly endless loop of adventures, over and over and over ...

After that, fandom just ruined it.
