It's been in the 90s and 100s here. I would like it to be winter and get bundled up. I think I prefer colder weather than just hot weather each day.
Maybe not extreme chill though. Maybe freezing, give or take a few degrees in either direction is how far I probably would go.
(I'm pretty sure that big wood ain't balsa, but it sure does look polished...)
For some reason, I never looked up a caber toss until now, and I didn't know just how exciting it was to see some poor bloke artistically set himself up for hernia surgery... On the plus side, that's the episode's most redeeming factor - a token tidbit of a historical pastime. Now if only Sub Par had shown that instead of the overly long scene where Beverly discusses Granny's saucy diary entries with Picard going "Mmmm!!!
" as response. That's the sort of over-the-top season one garbage they didn't need to go all wax nostalgia on and revisit for plot fodder. More caber tossing event examples, since the episode felt a need to turn apparitions from fantasy fare with sci-fi/treknobabble explanations. But it's a genuine a shame they didn't show the event after Data and Geordi save the weather system and then have Data partake and use the marvels of 1994 CGI to see the caber get flung 20 miles or whatever:

Rewatched it a few months ago and it was bad. Easily the second worst TNG episode after Shades of Grey, but not as bad as Night in Sickbay.

very. At least CoH tries to have a plot, as bad as it is, most of the issues stem from the directing.
Homeward I don’t mind at all, it even ended up being the basis from insurrection.

Yeah, the episodes on my worst list taint a character or universe. I can handle inoffensive crappy or meh one offs easily.
Yeah, this. I honestly don't understand the hate that Sub Rosa gets. Granted, it's not my favorite episode by a long shot, but I think it's interesting and it definitely gives Gates McFadden a chance to shine. We're currently introducing our 13 year old son to Trek, and it was so funny to watch him get all worked up when Crusher held her phaser in the cemetery, he went "Shoot the candle! Shoot the damn candle already!" and when she did, he said "At last!"

Possibly, but it depends a lot on the relationship between the parents and the kid. Granted, my son seems to be fairly young for 13, as far as I can tell as his mom, he's more bored than titillated by the hints of sex. But I guess that's likely to change at any time, so I guess I count myself lucky that he still wants to watch some shows with us.
I think more middle schoolers are like that than they let on. They might act like they're "into the ladies" because they like to imitate high schoolers and high schoolers are actually into the ladies. But they'd really rather hang out with their buddies and play video games.
