I love creme brulee!

Hubby had taken me out for a nice dinner a few years ago, and I decided to try creme brulee for dessert, not sure if I'd like it.

Now, you have to know that I'm not usually one to like custards or flan or such, so this was something different for me. It seemed "fancy" to me, and I wasn't really a "fancy" person. Hell with that!

OMG! It was great! We happened to be at a place that has had consistently the best creme brulee I've had since ....

until now...

Hubby has been dying (figuratively) to make it at home. So we finally got ourselves a torch (he wouldn't have it any other way) and the ingredients together (not much, but we don't usually have cream in the house, so if we buy it, we better use it).

Ahhhh!

Such a nice, light flavor! And a smooth creamy texture! With that hint of vanilla. It was great. And the torch heated just the sugar and not the rest, so the texture stayed right.

Hubby said it was awful and he'd take care of getting rid of it...so I wouldn't have to worry about it, of course. ;)

The only problem is the leftover eggwhites. I tossed in a few whole eggs and made scrambled eggs for breakfast. I'll have to find a recipe utilizing eggwhites--5 at a time.

Any other creme brulee lovers out there?

I do love it but it has to be ... well good. I've had bad creme brulee before, which soured me on the idea of it for a while.

Eggwhites? Easy. Scramble some eggs! Take your five whites and mix them with two whole eggs.

My daily breakfast is one serving of oatmeal (plain, old fasioned) and eggs, 1 whole egg with 4 whites.

I throw away four YOLKS every morning.

I love flan, I love custard and I love creme brulee. Curse them all, since I hate the diet that I am on.

Seriously, though, an occasional creme brulee is worth the gazillion laps in the pool.

Meh. Food poisoning sucks.

Food poisoning off creme brulee? Well, ours cooked in the oven, so nothing was raw.

And the eggwhites became scrambled eggs. With cheese on top.

I absolutely LOVE crème brûlée... as long as it is fresh and just torched. They are so rich and creamy with just the right amount of sweet. And there is nothing any better than cracking that sugar crust with a spoon for the first time. I like the sound it makes! :D

Oh... just thinking about it make me drool enough to drown!

Had crème brûlée when taking my folks out to dinner in Boston over the holidays. Yummy, yummy.

I like it. A couple of years ago I had this really amazing raspberry flavored creme brulee...yummiest dessert I've ever had. Unfortunately the place I had it doesn't seem to serve it anymore.

No, not creme brulee, but something similar. I hate it when that happens. Can't even think about cheese, too. *gag*

I had my first creme brulee during a holiday in Ballito (South Africa). That was great. Or was it Mossel Bay? I think it was Ballito. Great food they had there.

I remember my sister got sick after having cheesecake, then would not eat cheesecake, EVER. 30 years later, when we're having cheesecake, she said, "This tastes great! How come I've never had cheesecake?" I told her, "You don't like cheesecake. You got sick after having some years ago and haven't touched it since. And it wasn't the cheesecake that made you sick, either. You got sick and just happened to have had cheesecake before."

THAT kinda shit I remember?! Everything else? Everything important? I forget.
