I lived on an island, what movies did I miss?

I was away all summer and missed out on a lot of TV ads and previews and rentals and such.

The movie theater on the island opened late June, I saw Batman, Promethius and Red Lights. I'm looking for any movies that might have gone under my radar. I like comedies (that are actually funny, and not stupid), and dramas, but I'm really looking for epic movies and great sci-fi movies. I really can't wait until Cloud Atlus comes out.

So What did I miss? It could also be rental movies, I'm just really far behind.

Your Sister's Sister was very funny, but it had such a limited release that it might have gone under your radar regardless of your living situation. I've heard good things about Safety is not Guaranteed, also a comedy, but I haven't seen it yet.

I don't think Avengers even played on the island. I'm not a huge superhero fan, I just love Batman. :)

I actually heard of Safety is Not Guaranteed months ago because the ad I was always a fan of. Seems like a fun movie, thanks!

ParaNorman was also really good. I'm kinda sad that so few went to see it. Speaking of good movies nobody is seeing, Dredd is still playing (though maybe not for long) and is really fun.

Safety Not Guaranteed was excellent. So was Ruby Sparks. The Cabin in the Woods. Beasts of the Southern Wild. The Amazing Spider-Man.

21 Jump Street was really funny, I haven laughed that much in a long time, the trailers didn't it justice.

I really enjoyed God Bless America, if you like satirical dark comedies with over the top violence.

I think that and The Dark Knight Rises are about the only new films I've seen this year.
